Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
A&A in Atlanta? If so that is the company who built the fiberglass flip front end for the D/gas 55 chev my dad and his friends raced in the mid 60's.

Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
I'm not sure where they were out of .... i know there were 2 or 3 companies that made the hoods for the copo cars ... i was just fishing to see if i could find some info on them ... thanks for the lead though

Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
What year/style of hood? For Camaro? I bought a Stinger hood for my '68 Acadian a few years back and it was very nice.It came from Chicago-The Parts Place. Also check out Classic Industries. They may have the style of hood you are looking for.Good luck.

Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
I'm acctually looking for infor on the original manufacturers ... we got a hood off of ebay that the owner claims is an A&A hood and it has a serial number on it and im trying to chase it back to the company so i can verify its authenticity.

Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
A&A manufacturing isn't around anymore. So it must be an old stock hood bought several years back I'm afraid.Sounds like a huge paper chase-good luck with your search.

Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
If you look over it closely, you should find A&A somewhere on the hood- probably in the cowl area. Nova hood I'm guessing? Care to share a pic?

Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
Someone called to tell me my old hood was on Ebay for 5-6 grand. If your inquiring about the Island Teal hood, it was on a 1967 375 hp that was thought to be a Baldwin Motion car. The mileage was in the teens, and the car was painted a metallic brown w/ gold stripe from close to new. The person I got the hood from knew the car from almost new, and it always had this hood. After finally purchasing the car, he found out the car was not a BM, and removed the hood and sold it to me. I had the hood painted, but never used it. I sold my car to the guy in Ohio, whom you purchased the hood from. As you know, it's the better hood from the day, with the under hood forms.

Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods

I only replied because of your concern for it being a real hood from back in the day, and not a current day hood. It's a real hood from '67-'68, and it's the best one they made of all the co. making them. The original paint looked brand new, and off a car that had like 14,000 miles. |
Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
well I thank you very much ... its just crazy that you realized it was your hood

Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
hey Astock ... since you seem pretty sharp on the subject do you have any idea how many other companies made the stinger hood for the super car camaros?

I am still looking for more information on this original stinger style hood I have. The underside structure is also fiberglass. I've never seen one like this before.

It's basically a blem hood Mark...missing the stinger section. Before you have your guy throw it in the dumpster, send it to me.

Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
It seems like both Yenko and Baldwin Motion used the the ´Strange´ Stinger Hood.

Re: Original Fiberglass Stinger hoods
The '67 Yenko of Mike Garfinkle above started its Super Camaro life as a NicKey Camaro which was built by Dick Harrell at NicKey Chevrolet.
The Original "Stinger" Hoods designed for the NicKey Super Camaros did not have the Stinger or tail portion of the scoop included. I have not seen any documentation or pictures to show that these hoods were also used on 1967 Yenkos, other than this one, due to the unusual circumstances. |
