Talk to the New Carlisle Event Manager
Hello All,
I’d like to take a minute to introduce myself and hopefully clarify my plans for the 2013 GM Nationals. My name is Tyler Staley, and I am the new GM event manager here at Carlisle. Also, I wanted to apologize for any confusion. Having started in October, it has been a fast-paced process trying to get the GM show in order. In my efforts to get all my ducks in a row, I neglected to thoroughly talk to Brian Henderson about the Solid Lifter Showroom. I was not very aware of the extreme enthusiasm this crowd has for the display, and after talking to Brian, I decided an every-other-year approach would not be the best thing for the display. For 2013 my focus will be on the Buick brand, and Brian has agreed to help me bring in more Buicks for the display this year. We are going to re-name the display the "High-Performance Showroom." We will be trying to bring in a few special cars related to the celebration car for the GM show, but will still welcome the types of cars we've featured in the past. We'll be trying to find some great GSXs, Stage 1 cars, and the like. 2014 will be a Pontiac-focused year (50 years of the GTO), so we'll be looking for hi-po Pontiacs, as well as the hi-po cars from '69. I made this account in an attempt to keep communication open with all of our high-performance enthusiasts - please feel free to message me or email me with any questions. I look very forward to meeting all of you in June, and I am glad to see many of you are excited about this new approach. I also greatly appreciate the support and understanding of Brian as we work together towards another display at the GM Nationals. Fire away with any questions! |

Re: Talk to the New Carlisle Event Manager
It can be Pontiac time this year!..BKH

Re: Talk to the New Carlisle Event Manager
Can't get it painted in time for this Summer. Maybe you can set up a "Gas Guzzler Used Car Lot" from around 1974 when the first gas crunch hit and everybody unloaded these things for dirt cheap so they could buy Pintos and Vegas. That would be fun to look at!

Re: Talk to the New Carlisle Event Manager
Wow! Glad to see all the enthusiasm and that the display is already getting some neat stuff. Keep 'em coming guys!

Re: Talk to the New Carlisle Event Manager
My understanding is, GM Carlisle starts on Thursday?......or Friday? When are the solid lifter showroom cars put inside the building? We're gonna need hotel reservations. Also wondering where the trailers are parked for the SLS, and how far is the lot from the showroom?
|
Re: Talk to the New Carlisle Event Manager
I can answer a few of these questions. We start the SLS on Wednesday with absolute final placement on Thursday by 6. Trailer parking for SLS participants is right behind the building, so no problems with location. The show itself starts @ 8 AM Friday and runs until @ 10 AM Sunday. Already we are placing some real outstanding cars. This will be a very good Showroom once again...BKH

Re: Talk to the New Carlisle Event Manager
Thanks Brian, sounds like we need rooms for at least 3 nights, and the trip from the trailer to the showroom will be brief.

Re: Talk to the New Carlisle Event Manager
Welcome Tyler. We met at the Magna Grand National event in Delaware a few months ago when they showed the "Black Air" movie.. We sat at the same table.. I was with my 18 year Son.. Good luck and see you this summer.

Re: Talk to the New Carlisle Event Manager
Looking forward to June. I'm thinking about leaving the cob webs underneath right where they are....?

Re: Talk to the New Carlisle Event Manager
Hey! How are you? I had a great time meeting all you MAGNA guys in December. I've been in contact with Andrew, and he is going to do a screening of the movie here at the show too. Looking forward to seeing you in June!

Last time I emailed Brian he said we didn't have to do anything, he'd be in touch. I'm all set with motorhome parking with Carlisle |
