1962 black/red 409 wanted
Looking for a REAL '62 black/red interior 409 bubbletop Impala.
Any information on available cars would be appreciated. Email: [email protected] |
Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
Not to be a smartass, but there are no REAL 62 bubbletop Impalas, just Bel Airs. '62 Impalas all had the formal roofline. So you're looking for a black on red, real deal 409 Bel Air?

Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
Yeah, what you said. I'm trying to help someone find a good car.

Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
There is one on E-Bayer now , Corvette-Mike Midwest is the seller.

Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
Thanks for the heads up, I didn't see that one. Its a great looking car, I hope its a real 409 car.
|
Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
According to a local 409 expert that car has a repro trim tag and repro 409 specific parts. At that price I expected it had to be a clone, especially when they mention the $220,000 sale of Floyd Garret's car at Mecum Kissimmee.

Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
I must have missed a step here.
Did Floyd sell this car? Sorry the picture is fuzzy, and i only had one taken when I was there. (Damn) Floyd is a great guy, fun to talk cars with him and the other guy at the desk, (sorry I forgot his name) Ryan http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/...psd78ffecf.jpg |

Yes, Floyd sold the '62 Bel-Air for 187k.

Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
Yikes, that car seemed to be his favorite.
I guess 187 thousands reasons to sell... How did my picture end up in mockingbird's post? Did I do that? Ryan http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/...ps67f74c74.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/...ps499cee10.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0ac8314f.jpg |

Floyd's '62 sold at BJ in Arizona and was featured in the "Class of '62" at MCACN IV. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...tsdale_797.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...tsdale_801.jpg |

I do not know anything about this particular '62. However, what I do know from my own personal experience as well a long standing business relationship is that the guys at Corvette Mike Midwest as well as Corvette Mike California are very good and honest people and do care about the integrity and validity of special cars. No one knows everything about one specific model and certainly no one can know everything about all models of cars. These guys will always give you the best info they can. |
Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
Try again, they work if I post them to the picture tutorial......

But in burridge IL, they told me it was best to leave when I pointed out the wrong core support in a 62 fuelie vette I was considering. Had all the marking of a non-fuelie car (mushroomed out screw holes around air intake portion of the support). Never been back. |
Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
Are you saying that they deliberately faked up a fuelie Corvette or that they deliberately lied to you about the car?
Are you saying that you are 100% certain that the car is a complete fraud? Sounds like you did your homework and decided the car was not for you. |

Ryan </div></div> Yep, it's a neat place, I kept a car on loan to Floyd for 4 or 5 years, don't have anything there now but I bought some stuff from him last week and was going to run by there Saturday afternoon and pick it up. It'll be a quick trip, in and out |
Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
So that makes it easy, you would have picked you own car as the one to take home...

Re: 1962 black/red 409 wanted
I have a customer who was sold a "Survivor" quality 1965 roadster. After he purchased the car he brought in for wheels & tires. The frame was so badly rusted, we were afraid to put it on a lift. After the customer called them they said: "No Problem". We will just take it back, put it on the show room floor, and sell it to someone else ". Not refunding his $$$ just offering to resell it to someone else. This is Corvette Midwest in Burr Ridge. Being a knowledgable Benchmark guy, I said this is the making of a law suit. It is the Worst frame I have Ever seen on a car, let alone a Mid Year. When the customer told him what I said, he said that's the way ALL Survivor cars are. ?????? really? Not The caliber of the Mile Vietro I know. Total B.S.

All I can say quite basically, they represented a car on their showroom floor as a REAL 62 fuelie. After inspection, it failed one of the most basic tests for checking of a fake. The core support (non fuelie). The fact that they kept that car on their website until sold, told me they either fixed the issue or sold it by looking the other way (buyer beware). |
