Vintage Pontiac photos
A nice 69 Judge, picture taken in Moncton NB 1970. The car doesn't look like it's been beat on too much yet!https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...20315064_n.jpg

Re: Vintage Pontiac photos
Someone put trim rings on it back then. Didnt like the trimless wheels I guess.

Re: Vintage Pontiac photos
No headrests either.
|
Re: Vintage Pontiac photos
No Ram Air decals on the hood.

Re: Vintage Pontiac photos
Man, even the factory couldn't get things right back then...I bet there's even a Ford "CAUTION FAN" sticker on the radiator shroud, too.

Re: Vintage Pontiac photos
Is that the plant in Belgium, that assembled cars for Europe?
|
Re: Vintage Pontiac photos
My understanding is that in Canada, headrests didn't become mandatory until January 1, 1969.

No - that's Lordstown. Most "Pontiac" plants assembled multiple GM Brands (the exception being the "home" plant in Pontiac Michigan). It is still done that way today (that is, multiple GM brands and models going down the same line). K |

Re: Vintage Pontiac photos
Keith according to JohnZ Pictured on the left in the white shirt the photo is of Lordstown, there is a discussion over this photo right now on the CRG.

Re: Vintage Pontiac photos
Looks like it had headrests originally, pretty sure I see the releases on top of the seat. Has a wood wheel too.

</div></div> FirstGen - do you have a link to the discussion? I have a "favorite" saved for CRG but it takes me directly to the production process; I don't see a forum anywhere. By the way, my career parallels JohnZ's, except I started about 10 years later and worked my way up in the Truck organization (I'm still working for Truck Engineering). K |

'63 Catalina, 421 SD (converted to an HO car), 4 speed, aluminum front clip, Royal Bobcat appearance package. That's the only still photo I have of that car. We found some early home movies and race footage and I had a hero card made from the information we could glean: |

Re: Vintage Pontiac photos
These are early production '65's (likely first week of August 1964) and have been purported to be factory lightweights, built using thin steel sheetmetal:

http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...5723-500-0.jpg http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...oyalWagon1.jpg Dad is the one that adapted this Olds fuel injection intake onto a Pontiac engine for Dick Jesse's '65 altered wheelbase car. They were probably made in the Chevrolet Die Room at Chevy Flint Manufacturing. http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...oyal/001-1.jpg |

Re: Vintage Pontiac photos
Thanks, guys. I have way more pictures that I do time to post them.
Here's a few more: These are the Pontiac, Michigan assembly plant. All three of my vintage Pontiacs were built here: http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...I_Postcard.jpg http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...Pontiac_MI.jpg http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...y_Postcard.jpg http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...tPontiacMI.jpg http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...lant_c1970.jpg http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...2PeteEstes.jpg The shipping yard. This is why cars can get "lost" in the assembly plant: http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...y_Car20Lot.jpg Pre-Pontiac: http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...MotorCarCo.jpg |
