How Times have changed!!!!

I just recieved several vintage pictures of our 1966 427 mosport green corvette from around 1972 after the 2nd owner painted the car dark green (he hated mosport green) painted the hood insert gold, removed the front bumpers, slapped a set of foumula superstock tires on her with a set of 65 hubcaps for some reason on the car.

(THEN)

It certainly looks better now. At least they didn't butcher the fiberglass.

I happen to be a fan of the Mosport Green. I really like those shades, what was then referred to as the "earthtones". I have a couple of Oldsmobiles; an original paint '69 W-31 in Aztec Gold, and a '72 442 frame-off in Sequoia Green. Too many red '69 Camaros and '70 Chevelles for me. Just like the '67 435 cars---way more now than Chevrolet EVER made. Kudos to ya' for the Mosport---BTW the vintage pics ARE pricelss, though.

Re: How Times have changed!!!!

I talked to the 2nd owner and found out what was up with the 65 hubcaps. He got the wheels and tires/hubcaps off his buddys 65 couple when his buddy changed the wheels on his car. He said that he changed the 65 caps/wheels out for ET slots soon after this picture. He then went on to say that he ran the original knockoffs for about two months after he purchased the car until he almost lost a wheel one evening. He said the knockoff wheels where never on the car again as long as he owned the car. When he sold the car in 1988 the original knockoffs where in boxes.

I used to have a '66 Mosport Green coupe. Was bought new at Harry Mann's in L.A.Loved the color and used to get a lot of compliments at car shows.Wonder why the color was only offered 1 year?I still have ''seller's remorse''.Should have kept that car.

GReat score! Somehow, they were just cars back then and folks did what they wanted with them.

A Mossport Green '67 is going through Mecum Florida. The only one made in 1967.

----When I went to order my 66 427/425 I was getting input from my cousin who had already owned 3 new mid-years. He really wanted me to order Mosport/Dk green combo, but I wouldnt listen and went with Milano Maroon/saddle. While I liked the maroon and was lucky as he-ll to have it, I have always regretted not ordering the Mosport new, and have had several Mosport cars since then. Loved every one of them.......Bill S

You are very fortunate to have those pictures. I recently bought a 67 Vette L-36 from the third owner who owned it 40 years. I would think that he would have pictures but I could not get anything out of him.
