Barn Find / Hidden Gem's 2013
Last year the Barn Finds / Hidden Gem's section went over well I'm pleased to say. It was very popular and it's coming back for MCACN 2013.
If you have a untouched "barn find" and can bring it to the show. Let me know! TheAutoArchaeologist@yahoo.com http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8064/8...77f14d82_c.jpg Thank you, Ryan Brutt The Auto Archaeologist |
Re: Barn Find / Hidden Gem's 2013

That was my favorite section.

Re: Barn Find / Hidden Gem's 2013
Looking forward to it.
I love original numbers matching dust. The dust from the old days is way better than the modern dust. Ryan |
Re: Barn Find / Hidden Gem's 2013
In the process of talking the original owner out of his 71 black nova 350 ss . Still has the original paint with painted pinstripe . he has the rear bumper off the car & you can see a large X mark next to the bolt holes . Car is rusted under the back window & in the lower quarter sections but otherwise all there. The drivers fender had been replaced in the early eighties & is brown. The doors close like brand new. The original motor was blown & has a 70 lt1 in it. If I get this car I will send you some pics & you can let me know if it's a possible candidate. also has old black rims with rotted white walls & center caps. Offered him 2,500 & he really wants 3,500 for it . Has no paperwork for the car but the dealer is a local dealer closed down & the dealers son said he has lots of old paperwork , that for 350 dollars he can't assure me it's available but the fee is for his time. I of course will eventually pay him what he wants but am trying to get it a tad cheaper. Will close this deal within the next couple of weeks for sure as its not for sale locally. Jeff

Re: Barn Find / Hidden Gem's 2013
Well, I guess I need to re-sign up for this year's show since last year was a washout with Hurricane Sandy and all that associated crap.
So does the black bird still qualify? |

Re: Barn Find / Hidden Gem's 2013
The Barn Find section is really starting to shape up. We have some incredible cars coming.
But I want more! Let me know what ya got! |
Re: Barn Find / Hidden Gem's 2013
Added a very much "off the radar" export 1971 440+6 'Cuda Convertible that has not been started in over 30 years. This one was stored away in a trailer in AZ for many years and hasn't seen the light of day in a long, long time. See it at MCACN, November 23-24!

That's why we have you here, Mr. Tires! Re: Barn Find / Hidden Gem's 2013
Thanks for posting the pic of the "Rapid Roy" funny car. I wondered what happened to it. I grew up across the street where this car was parked . Occasionally they would fire it up early on a Sat morning, do a couple of burnouts and take a quick spin up the street, then trailer it to the races. Those were the days. Exciting for me, not so much for the neighbors.

That's my old car !! Is that a vintage photo of 'Chantilly Lace' from back in the day? When I bought the car, Joe, the original owner, told me he had a Day two Pic that he was going to try and find of the car... but, I never ended up getting it. Would love to see a close up of that pic on the windshield... anyone? Also any under hood pics??? Nice to see the current owner displaying her in Day Two form !!! |

I've seen that one on Geoff Hacker's Forgotten Fiberglass site. It's the Henry-J Cougar custom and the whole story isn't in yet, see links below. Re: Barn Find / Hidden Gem's 2013
Thankss... I must have had a brain freeze for a minute...
Joe told me he had a pic at the track launching the car with the wheels a foot in the air. Thought maybe it was that pic. He had some real cool stories from back in the day. One story about him being good friends with Bob Glidden?? or Don Nicholson?? I believe before he was so famous.(can't rememebr exactly, but a well known drag racer from back then)...how he loaned him his last 50 bucks to buy food for his family and he came back with a set of new headers and a bag of pretzels for dinner !! Joe was a mechanic at the Chevy dealer where he bought the car and he worked all week just to race on the weekend ...along with many other guys back then !! The good old days !! Thanks again for the link !! |
