bought a 69 Camaro. hugger orange/ black interior
badged as a Z/28 w/ CE block...$ speed and very clean. www.countrysidemotorsales.com its the orange one I did nt pay his price, but I now own it! I doubt its a real Z, and i m ok w/ that Let me know your opinions please, i have lurked here along time... |
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Looks like the deep groove pulleys are still there. Cool car. Looks like it didn't have gauges originally (Nova black face console gauges, no clock in dash cluster).

Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
I love how he has the dog pose with the cars...Ok guy in my book!! Enjoy the car.
|
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
it does not have X33 or X77 on the tag, so, im assuming its a clone.
tach is 8000 rpm i ll take more pix tomalla when i bring her home. I think i paid fair price for it. I don t need a real Z.. Ive wanted a 69 since i was a boy |

That's all that matters. Enjoy! |
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Pull the back seat most early 711 interior cars have a X3 or X7 on the rear bulkhead in yellow or white grease pencil.
Here are two examples the X7 is in a 10D (early) 69 Z28 https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...ead_800pix.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...3_bulkhead.jpg Also check the axle code and date, check for signs of white on the top of the firewall or in the wiper well. (car would ahve had white stripes if it were a Z28.) |
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Congrats on your purchase...
If it were mine I would be into it heavy, I think it may be a Z28, check the alternator to see if it is an 837, and the date, start searching owner history. FWIW cowl hood was not available when it was produced, it has one style trim tail light and one non style trim tail light lens. The grille should be and looks so much better argent (silver). It looks like you did indeed get a good deal... ESPECIALLY if it checks out to be a Z28. |
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Nice looking car even if it turns out as a fake I would still drive it and have fun.
|
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
It looks like it had an aftermarket coil mounted over the heater box, deep groove pulleys are in place, disc brakes, right master cylinder, nice air cleaner sticker that has some miles, original shifter handle, etc... I would say it probably is the real deal and 72/72 711 is a nice combo. Congrates...

Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
A 10C [1968] Z/28 would not have an 8000 rpm tach. Check the trans for a VIN stamp.
Sounds like a car you will enjoy for a small investment. Have fun with it! |
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
.... I like it..... .... You can enjoy driving that one |

|
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Nice looking car, great purchase, congrats.
|
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
If is is a clone, than you got it at a good price. If is a real Z than you got it at a grate price.

Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Well, shes home. I have a box of reciepts and paperwork w/ owners names
the car came out of Iowa, then went to arlington heights, Ill..those reciepts have alot of repro parts purchased. at omne time, mr. Parker in cedar Rapids had it quartered and a deck lid, all done @ a Chevy dealer. in 85 mr. Remiker must have restored it? im thinking, i am the 5 th owner now? It looks like a 140 mph speedo was bought for it at one point. also, in 1972..Walt Lakota? ( sp) had the engine replaced w/ a 350 block, and reconditioned heads. A crane cams 350 hp cam was added sometimne in its life too.. i am so digging this car! It drove great, the clutch is tricky, but the last clutch I had was a 4 cyl saturn! I will take some pix of her tomalla, and upload them somewhere so ya all can see..Thank you for any information you all have given me!! Scott..a happy guy who realized his dream car! |
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Have you checked to see if it is a 12 bolt rear ... and what the rear end code is?
... depending on what you find... that may be clue. |
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
It has an X7. On the rear seat bulkhead!!!!! It also has an 837 alt number!!!! Also paper work shows. Console purchase, guages and tach same time. 1985. Could thay have added tach and console to it? Ill climb under her in a few!!! Like i said, the ce motor was 1972. W/ paperwork. Does thia hurt the value, not that im selling it!!! I paid 22k. Thx again
|
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Ummm guys... Rear end 12 bolt... Bw. Code. Says 4:56....uuughhhh
|

Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
i have owners names, walter loukota or loukata marion, iowa 69 - about 81?
bob parker manchester, iowa 81-85? mike remiker 85-? last owner? arlington heights, ill. maybe theyre on here? this is so cool decoding and learning. I i figured i bought a clone, w/ added tach and console. the CE engine story checks out..paperwork for new block and internals nov/72 new 1/4 and trunk 82, dealer did them stephan chevrolet-olds manchester iowa. repainted in 2004 by last owners. couple who had mini gm muscle car museum this was her car. I am sooo digging this..thx again |
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Great! Congratulations and a BW coded 4.56 rear wow... someone bought her for drag racing no wonder the engine didn't make it!
|
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
May have originally, but the orig. owner was drafter off to Vietnam.
Walt, the 2nd owner, bought it cuz he wanted a sports car and his dad said no to porshe and others. he says his dad signed the note on the 69. its nice to know, he missed his old car and always wondered. felt good when he said i made his day. |
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Great news and a good score...
|
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
I would think a 350/300HP would never get a 4:56.It would never make it to the end of the quarter.;)Nice Camaro.
|
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
the code said bw... but, driving it @ 55, she didn twind and still pulled good.. i doubt there are 4:56 in it. thats the code on the tube. pass side
|
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
What's the complete axle code with the date?
|

The car is not a 350/300 SS... it's a 302/290 Z28. BTW check and the stamped letter code on the ralley wheels located next to the valve stem. See if it looks like this https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...9-100b5302.jpg |
Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro

Re: well, I bought a 69 Camaro
Update on the 69...Today i recieved some pictures of her..
looks like from 1974-1978... she was white striped.. mounted fog lights under front bumper too.. oddly, there was no Z/28 emblem in the grill..I reckon he took it out? Also had an hour talk w/ the 2 nd owner. he obviously misses her!!! We are in talk, of him and his wife coming to michigan this summer to see the car!!! i really enjoy learning the history of this car!!! As an aside...she will catch rubber in 3 gears...50 degree weather and old pavement!!! |
