66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
I have done a few things, cleaned out the tank, new sending unit, rebuilt the carb...
-50k miles -original interior minus the carpet -Pretty sure it is an original L79 however the engine currently in it is a HM code 1968 model 327. -2 tops -am/fm power antenna -(original)Nassau Blue with Blk std. Frame is very clean, body appears very nice, the bonding strips are great and the wheel lips are nice as well. until last week same owner since 1972, and was "restored" in the mid 70's? https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...nt_drivers.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...te_trimtag.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use..._of_engine.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...e_interior.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...tte_gauges.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...vette_amfm.jpg |

Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
6,000 RPM redline is either a 327/350 horse or a 427/390 horse. It doesn't look like it was a big block, so it was most likely a 350 horse.

Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
Love it. Nicer version but reminds me of the one in "King of The Hill" with Dennis Hopper and Harry Hamlin

Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
A customer was looking for a 66 vette conv and I turned him onto this car, from the pics I received it appeared to be a nice original body and good frame plus it came with tons of extra/NOS parts. I would have preferred to have seen the car before he bought it but he wouldn't wait...after it arrived last week it was nicer than anticipated.
Intentions are to return the car to Nassau blue at some point however he would like to drive and enjoy the car some first. I am looking for an original set of steel wheels and hubcaps, and will be ditching the Chrome Hooker sidepipes too |
Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
'65 & '66 original steel wheels without the "nubs" are getting hard to find.

Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
How much?

I have a few Corvettes here that would love to wear them. |
Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
I love it! The car looks badass with the period mods.

It is not presently for sale... Honestly the side pipes on the car are not that good as far as condition goes, however there were 2 more sets with the car, one is reported as stainless, did they make a stainless sidepipe set up aftermarket? |
Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
I don't know about stainless, but I love sidepipes on midyear Corvettes, both factory side pipes and aftermarket.

Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
Correct Corvette '65 & '66 wheels that are welded are about $200 each.

Are the wheels letter coded or ? |
Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
Correct 65/6 wheels are dated but cannot be seen when a tire is mounted. There should be two small bumps by the valve stem and I believe a GM stamping by the lug nuts.

Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
I have a set of original '65/'66 wheels, Coker radial goldlines and NOS hub caps I'd consider selling. They're restored and ready to go on any car!
Let me know - Dan |
Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
Is this site great or what! James I have a hurst shifter for that day 2 beauty if you need it.
|
Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
Are they dated like Kelsey Hayes dated the later wheels?
ex- the year stamp is year model the wheel was manufactured for and not the year the wheel was actually produced? Just making sure I am correct... By the way picked up a hard bound Best of Vette Vues Magazine Volume 1-9 Dec 1975 - for $1.00 the other day... It is a treasure trove of info and some articles on superrare vettes! |
Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
The wheels are dated on the month/year they were made. Example, there was a large run of 8/64 and 12/64 wheels for 65 Vettes.

Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
James, when I get home tonight I will post photos of a wheel date for you. They're on the personal computer.
Steve is correct - different than the later passenger car wheels where the date is located by the valve stem in K-1-x-x-x fashion. This date is on the inside of the wheel beed. You cannot physically see the date with the tire installed. Buddy - look closely, it appears this car already has the Hurst Day-2 shifter installed. Thanks, Dan |
Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
They look so good with no front bumpers and the holes filled in.

I agree and especially in black with the "bundle of snakes" sidepipes it makes her look like she is just wicked... if it only had a set of WIDE halibrands or torque thrusts |
Re: 66 Vette Roadster - 70's style
James, I don't know what I did the photos. I'll ask my brother to chime in. I know he has the pics.
