1969 Malibu
I recently came across this 69 Malibu parked in a cruise in area of a local car show. So anyway it found a new home. Kinda' wanted a 300 Deluxe Post car but I think Dan already found all of those...
It is a 307 air car, Bal built 08D small TT. TH350, PS,PB (added I think) , one repaint. The paint is very nice and flat, and the Burnished Brown looks to be a nice match, the metalic is a little large but I can live with it, Car has 87K miles on the clock, and is corrosion free and retains most all the original bright work. The door seam bottoms are perfect. Interior is a little tired but still very respectable. All the custom belts are there, and in ex condition. Has newer 15" ( Old style ) Cragers and new radials. The grill is a replacement with the center trim added. I have a better OE grill and a very nice early 69 Walnut wheel and some other stuff from a couple of local 69 Chevelle boys. I got a pair of front bucket seats with new Parchment covers installed with the car. Plan is to freshen up the guts, new carpet and headliner, and shoot the door panels and seat plastic and just drive the crap out of it next summer. The little 307 surprised me, runs OK. Edelbrock manifold and 4 bbl. Car has some kind of glass packs ? Sounds way better than a 307 should. When time and $$ permits I would like to do a BBC, Tremec 5 speed, 12 bolt, and front disc brakes, and keep the air. Sorry about the Malibu scripts on the front fenders , they were added by the last owner as far as I know. The reddish brown top is out of here, I hate it ! The car was built with a Dk. Brown top. My thought now is to two tone the top in Champagne Gold, Phil "woj" gave me the idea one day when we were talking about vinyl top colors. Might try and get the top done soon, we'll see. Anyway enjoy the pic's Mike https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1845.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...bal_malibu.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1850.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1854.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1872.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1949.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1966.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1958.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1969.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1907.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1956.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf1951.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...8-dscf1853.jpg |
Re: 1969 Malibu
Great car Mike! Congrats on the score.

Re: 1969 Malibu
Very nice car indeed. So what if it is a 307. That would make for a great cruising car around town.
|
Re: 1969 Malibu
Man, that would fit exactly what I'd like to find.
What kind price tag was on that, if you don't mind spilling the beans? Thanks. |
Re: 1969 Malibu
Guy was asking 14.5K or BO, ended up @ 13K, worth it to me, because it is so clean.
Rick, it runns nice up on the I state. On another note, have any of you ever seen OEM sill plates like these, both sides the same, one rivet black, the other is plain, and note the black field around the rivet ?? They are also that way on the crimped side. I have seen the two different rivets before on a Camaro sill plate. I think some rivets might have been supplied plain, or black. Mike |
Re: 1969 Malibu
Mike, I can only relate to the 70 Chevelle but yes I have seen that style rivet pattern many times.

Re: 1969 Malibu
Very cool Mike! Bring it to Pavillions

Re: 1969 Malibu
Mike, Great score.....you should of told me you were looking for a Post Sedan....I would love to have you in my Post Sedan family. All kidding aside.....I love this new Malibu. I agree with everything your planning on doing, except.....I would NOT remove the Bench Seat. Bench Seats ROCK! I would loose the "Chevelle" front fender script and the way too long Exhaust Tips. Have you tried to look for the Build Sheet?
If you do find the Build Sheet you can verify the Deluxe Seat Belts I would also say that the passenger side mirror was also most likely an add on by a previous owner. Again, great score! Dan |
Re: 1969 Malibu
Nice score Mike..my Malibu is a B Brown with champagne top car!!..looks real nice!
|
Re: 1969 Malibu
Dan
Will look for the built sheet when I get to the interior. The belts are 100% original, all dated 32nd week with the exception of the retractors and they are 34th wk. Left mirror is OE and dated 6 DMI 8. The RH mirror is dated 1973 or 83 ? it looks new. If and when I get to any paint, the Chevelle script is gone. The exhaust tips are some after market welded on stuff. Mike |

Al, send me a couple shots of your car, want to see the top. Mike |
Re: 1969 Malibu
Nice car Mike.
I had a chance to see it in person last week while dropping off a part for the car. It is super clean (zero rust) and the color combo looks great (except for that top). It can be driven as-is, but I know Mike will "kick it up a notch". It will undoubtedly become a nice cruiser with little effort. Phil W. |

Not big demand for 250 call outs , and yes it has a beautiful black cloth interior. I couldn't believe the condition of it. Especially for a California car. Very funny Jim. But, true!! This car is really clean, Mike won't have to go that far. Phil W. |
Re: 1969 Malibu
How about a pic of that newly painted top!
|
Re: 1969 Malibu
Here you go Jim
Got the top colored in and will finish the sanding and polishing today, I think Finished pictures with the trim back on will follow. UGMO Vinyl top RIP https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf2088.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf2089.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...n_dscf2092.jpg |

Looking good Mike!
|
Re: 1969 Malibu
Roof Looks Great! Good choice.
|
Re: 1969 Malibu
nice job!
|
Re: 1969 Malibu
Throw an L88 in it and bring it to SLS 2013... Just saying Mike, just saying...
|
Re: 1969 Malibu
Dan, maybe not an L88, I want to drive it, maybe a 427 or a 454
Anyway here are a few more pics, got the top cut and polished and most of the trim is back on. I like it, cool combo. If the sun ever comes out again I will get some outside shots, to much glare in the garage.
