OUCH!!!
|
Re: OUCH!!!
Oh that is not good! I cannot imagine a good outcome for the driver of the toe vehicle either. How unfortunate. Any idea what happened?

Re: OUCH!!!
hope everyone's ok.
At least it wasn't an R/T. But I guess that's small comfort to the owner |
Re: OUCH!!!
It's a 1970 Charger 500. Maybe a jacknife and rollover? Was he towing that with a rusty 1/2 ton 1960s Ford pickup or was the pickup inside the trailer with the Charger?
|
Re: OUCH!!!
Looks like the trailer got rearended on the left side?
|
Re: OUCH!!!
lots of oil/fluids across the road..also look at the tree's...no leaves!..maybe a older picture?
|
Re: OUCH!!!
Looks like the trailer was parked along the side of the road, and a moving car or truck side swiped it.
The initial point of impact looks like the D/S corner of the back door. I'd guess that old 1/2 ton truck was inside the trailer ahead of the charger too. Late winter into spring looks to be right.Maybe on his way to/from an auction. Someone should run that Chargers Texas plate to find out what really happened... |
Re: OUCH!!!
Looks like a Texas plate on the Charger. Can't tell on the trailer. Could be a recent picture, considering the drought conditions we've had this summer.
|
Re: OUCH!!!
Maybe it was part of a hurricane
|
Re: OUCH!!!
Tragic! Looks like the truck was in the trailer with the Charger. That would be a long trailer; 40-45 feet?
|
Re: OUCH!!!
The front tire on the trailer looks like no tread ridges on the tire. That's not good.
|
Re: OUCH!!!
Trim Ring still looks good....
|
Re: OUCH!!!
Another site mentioned car was recently sold and on route from Texas to new owner when the trailer was sideswiped by a semi.
Good thing it wasn't a '69 500 also hope only feelings were hurt! ~ Pete |
Re: OUCH!!!
My God that is a heartbreaking sight.
|
Re: OUCH!!!
I don't think it matters if its a 69 500 or not. A very nice looking Charger has been destroyed.

Re: OUCH!!!
Am I missing something here? I thought it was a Charger 500 too based on the lettering on the rear tail panel, but shouldn't a Charger 500 not have the flying buttresses off the roofline and have a flush fiting rear window?
|
Re: OUCH!!!
Only '69 Charger 500's had the Daytona style flush rear glass, the '70 500's were basically a regular Charger w/ trim option.
This is exactly why I posted previously about it being a good thing it wasn't a '69 500, didn't notice the story was 6 years old. ~ Pete |

yep. I remember that, not too long ago. Not a vintage pic of a race pile up but a pic of a vintage race pile up. |
Re: OUCH!!!
Colin got caught up in that mess...if I remember correctly?
|
Re: OUCH!!!
July of 2005, I was there, but at turn 4.
|
Re: OUCH!!!
I was told Colin was driving the 1969 Trans Am. I believe Steve Forer, the guy I sold my 1967 Chevelle to is underneath him, or he was driving the #60 Corvette,

Re: OUCH!!!
Bill, how funny. I was there to see Steve, he's a bit out of the picture. He was actually standing still and got hit from behind. He's a good racer, I'll be there in a week to see him go for his third National Championship in a row. He has the SCCA record at Road America and a few other tracks.

Re: OUCH!!!
Tim,
That is funny! You know both Tom O'Grady & Steve Forer, 2 guys I sold cars to! What a small world. While I was delivering the Chevelle up to Steve's house in White Fish Bay Wisconsin, Steve was ahead of me leading the way, and we stopped off at his "Mechanic" to look at his Corvette being repaired after a crash in the summer of 2007. Do you know if he still has my old Black 1967 SS Chevelle? I knew when I sold it to him it would have a good home. Bill |
Re: OUCH!!!
Steve sold it, he had a business crunch in 2010. I bought his 427 Cobra and wanted to also buy the Chevelle, but the Cobra was all I could swing at the time. He's bounced back now, was on lake Michigan in his Donzi in July (BRIC weekend), he does nothing half speed.
We swam together at University of Wisconsin in the 70's, he's a good guy and one of my best friends for 36 years. I gave him the thumbs up on the Chevelle as I saw it at Phesant Run and called him about it. |

Re: OUCH!!!
That's to bad. Do you know where it ended up going? I always like keeping track of where all my cars are. I remember him telling me a group of his friends came up from Texas in a Mototorhome and called him about my Chevelle when it was at Phesant Run back in 2007. That must of been you and your Buddys. Tell Steve hello for me when you see him . That sure was a fun car to drive. Not as much fun as when I had the LS-7 in it. Thanks for the update Tim. Ahh.... Memories, almost as much fun as finding them and restoring them.

Re: OUCH!!!
That group was us in good old Paul D's motor home, rest his soul. I called you and we visited by phone about the car prior to Steve buying it. It sold to a fellow in Pennsylvania, a friend of the guy that handles his race car.
How funny, I never knew it was your car. |
Re: OUCH!!!
Thanks for the clarification. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: PeteLeathersac</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Only '69 Charger 500's had the Daytona style flush rear glass, the '70 500's were basically a regular Charger w/ trim option.

Re: OUCH!!!
In 1970 the Charger trim levels (from least expensive to most expensive) were:
Charger Charger 500 Charger SE Charger R/T Charger R/T-SE |
