Rainy day? Stuck at work? Live feed
If you're stuck at work today or this weekend or it's just a lazy rainy day (I' ve got both covered today!) the YellowBullet Nationals has a GREAT live feed of all of the racing today through Sunday...they have multiple cameras catching the entire run down the track and even have the live timing stats pop up on the screen...I may call the wife and tell her I "have to work late"...! Or follow the ADRL action @ Memphis
http://adrl.tv/?page_id=1746 Note: Bret Kepner is working the mic in the tower...you'll remember him from the old NHRA/Diamond P coverage on TNN from back in the day. Also, the ADRL is the originator of the Supercar Showdown series, which features a heads up showdown for the new DragPack/CobraJet/COPO factory race cars...a lot of those cars will be in Indy finishing up but I'd say you could see a few on the feed. |
Re: Rainy day? Stuck at work? Drag Week feed
Possibly my favorite event of the year, Hot Rod Magazine DRAG WEEK!
http://blogs.hotrod.com/see-all-the-drag...here-32391.html [external link if that page doesn't work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...v=XnPKiH48sHA] Here's a lineup/schedule showing which track for each day: Monday, Sept. 10, Day 1 Racing: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, Tulsa Raceway Park, Tulsa, OK Tuesday, Sept. 11, Day 2 Racing: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, Motorplex, Ennis, TX Wednesday, Sept. 12, Day 3 Racing: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, Thunder Road, Gilliam, LA Thursday, Sept. 13, Day 4 Racing: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, Memphis International Raceway, Memphis, TN Friday, Sept. 14, Day 5 Finals: 4pm-9pm, Tulsa Raceway Park, Tulsa, OK |
Re: Rainy day? Stuck at work? Drag Week feed
Leader of unlimited class after day 1, 4x champ Larry Larson and his ChevyII:
http://videos.hotrod.com/video/Larry...s-6-94-208-MPH |
Re: Rainy day? Stuck at work? Drag Week feed
Just bumping this up for "Day 2" of Drag Week! Ennis is notoriously fast, but tricky with a really narrow groove...hopefully all of the cars made the drive between the tracks ok. It will be interesting to see if the 4x champ can hang on to the #1 spot, as a couple of cars put some MPH on Larry yesterday [Jeff Lutz went 212+ mph in his '55 yesterday!] but they were just off the pace et-wise.
[will start at 9am cst] |
Rainy day? Stuck at work? Drag Week feed
The drive from Tulsa to Ennis claimed many of the unlimited heavy hitters, but the top 2 cars are within .05 of a second of each other after yesterday's racing! Hopefully the drive to Cajun country went smooth for the competitors last night...
Live Feed of Day 3 of Drag Week: |
Rainy day? Stuck at work? Drag Week feed
And Day 4 is upon us, and brings a shake up to the leaderboard in the Unlimited class! Larry Larson had trouble getting a clean pass in his '66 ChevyII yesterday while Jeff Lutz in his '57 BelAir laid down a 7.002 @ 212! So Lutz takes the overall lead with a 7.06 @ 212mph average while Larson slides to a 7.11 @ 198mph average, with Tom Bailey in his '69 Camaro creeping up with a 7.33 @ 189mph average [somewhere on the backroads of Arkansas in the middle of the night Tom had a rocker fail, so he's scrambling to find a replacement in time to make the call on Thursday]. If they all made the horrendous drive last night and can survive tonight's drive back to Tulsa then tomorrow will be an absolute slugfest!

Yep! I think this years route is 1600 miles? And it's not hop on the interstate and boogie, the Hot Rod staff picks your exact route and hands you the directions as you leave each track, and it's mostly off the map backroads, with distinct landmarks you are required to get your car photographed with. The road was so rough on the first leg that one car had it's front cross member ripped out... |

No problem, Bruce! This event is on my list of things to do...just need a gameplan! Day 5, and the 2 leaders in Unlimited both had some work to do yesterday! Larson broke the center section out of his 9" yesterday so he had to swap it and Lutz broke a shaft rocker...as of yesterday, there is only .02 of a second separating the 2 cars! So the return trip to Tulsa and the last day of racing should turn out to be the best yet...only problem is that it's raining, and looks to continue to rain until early afternoon, but the crew at Tulsa Raceway Park says they'll keep the lights on until the event is finished so the cars may run into and through the wee hours of the night! With that said, here's the Day 5 feed, but I doubt racing won't kick off until 1pm CST or later today... |

A good example: this is Jeff Lutz *near* his last checkpoint on the final drive to Tulsa last night...he posted this at 2:53am! Re: Rainy day? Stuck at work? Drag Week feed
They're waiting on a light rain to stop in Tulsa, and then to dry the track, so if they can get things squared away you folks with internet access @ home can watch the action from your recliners tonight!

Re: Rainy day? Stuck at work? F.A.S.T @ Martin feed
I was there today when the pretty little blonde lady clicked off a 11.10 and then a 10.94 @ 126 mph in the Factory Stock 69 L88 Corvette. Several other cars came up with new bests et wise.
Must have been some pretty good air there today. |
Re: Rainy day? Stuck at work? F.A.S.T @ Martin feed
Just got a phone call from Terry Pennington, Julie's Corvette is brokeski. Between the power and the well prepped track, the ring and pinion decided to call it quits. Julie definitely has a good feel for just how much gas pedal she can put down before the F70x15 Firestones lose traction. Tis a shame, but there's always next year.
