Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Wilma ,
I have a 67 RSSS 396 / 325 4 speed car which was sold new out of Lustine Chevrolet in Maryland. Was registered in Washington and ended up in the area North of Sacramento California still with the Washington license plates on it when I purchased it. I have attached a photo of the car as I got it after it had been in storage for many years , its a red on red Rally Sport Super Sport 396 /325 HP 4 speed car which has had all the interior items painted black many years ago. It has had a hit in the front at some stage but retains most of its original paint. Guess it was made to look something like Old Reliable back in the day... I too would be interested in any Lustine Chevrolet license plate frames , dealer items or emblems. Photos or any information on the car too would be greatly appreciated. Anyone remember the car from around the drag strips or local areas? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...12812-67_3.jpg |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Another from the rear showing the rear spoiler which had to have been fitted many years prior to me getting the car and also showing the huge rear wheels on the car.

Curious if you turned up any stuff from Lustine? Any pics? |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Act fast as there's a Lustine emblem on eBay right now BIN, incorrectly marked as Virginia but the same as a Lustine Hyattsville emblem CamaroJoe posted here before also as pic below. Lustine was a Yenko Network dealer that also delivered two ZL1's, one being Malcom Durham's '69 Strip Blazer Jr! Lots of past threads here w/ Lustine stuff, check the below links also try the search box. Note the 69RS pic w/ Lustine on the door has the T guy like the emblem, anyone know more about this SS/E Price Fighter? Also, does anyone know more of ProTeam offering what they claim is ZL1 #42's orignal lump and parts, see below ad as posted here before in the recent Hauser #43 car thread. Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Is the dealer emblem on eBay one from 67 or later?

Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Lots of great Malcolm Durham's Strip Blazer pics online but any of his Lustine delivered '69 Camaro ZL1 #42 'Strip Blazer Jr.' are tougher to pin down. Here's the best I could find below, I believe this is ZL1 #42 and a different car than the non D80 white 69RS on the ramp truck pic that also appears not to be the FG Lustine delivered ZL1 #40? Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
NCRS Shippers say shipped to Lustine Chevrolet Maryland.
Research is looking as if it was titled in Maryland in 68 after being previously titled in Virginia. Is it possible this may have been a dealer swap or would the selling dealer title out to different states out of Maryland ?? |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
The above post which I was unable to edit refers to my 67 RS SS...,.

Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
I obtained copies of old title documents from MD DMV, sadly all of the information has been redacted (struck out with marker pen).
It proves the car was originally titled in VA , but VA DMV have no records. Fortunately the MD DMV have provided a copy of the VA title. Does anyone know if there is a way to get this information without it being edited at all? Its amazing this information still exists but its really sad that the information I need is removed. Can anyone offer any advice?? |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Anyone??

Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Best may be lay your VIN out here hoping a member can maybe try their own sources also so anyone ever searching the Vin online finds this thread. Keep digging and give it a bit of time also try from a few different angles too as it's often surprising which leads pan out. Your car is very cool, what of the engine and any original drivetrain parts? ~ Pete |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Pete I appreciate your input , I have spent quite some time to get the information I have so far. Jerry MacNeish suggested contacting MD DMV which I did to turn up some of this information so far.
I'm very passionate about this car which is still a project car. Its mainly original paint and sheet metal , still with the mods in the pictures which is how I believe it has been for some time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed here - so here goes.... Its Factory 67 RS SS 396 4speed. Born with motor and trans currently missing.(Would love to reunite them with the car if I can find them) NCRS shippers indicates sold new by Lustine Chevrolet Hyattsville MD , originally titled in VA in mid 67 , titled in MD around a year later in mid 68. GMAC financed new for $3529.64 (struck me as a lot for a low optioned car)at Washington DC. Refinanced just over a year later in 68 with National Capital Bank Washington DC. I have a redacted copy of original when new title in VA which has title number on it. I have a redacted copy of original MD application for certificate of title 1968 ( has some numbers stamped into lower RH side of page - Appears to be registration tag number and title number. I have a redacted copy of assignment of title by registered owners MD I have a certificate of inspection by Silver Spring American (something missing from this name?) 7901 (maybe incorrect number hard to read) Georgia Ave MD mid 68 with inspectors number as well as the document number. I have a redacted piece of paper which might be the registration stub which showed payment receipt , tag numbers and a lot of other numbers etc printed on it. I also have Washington (STATE not DC) registration plates (1968 base plate type which I believe was used until the 1978 base plate came out) which have a 1986 decal which also has a number also on that. I have names of a husband and wife who owned the car East of San Francisco in the Fairfield CA area around 2000 - 2004. The man worked in an exhaust shop in Fairfield CA. I believe they may had owned the car in Washington State and it may have never been registered in CA. I could have many of the details above wrong so even if you can clarify anything you see I may have wrong would also be appreciated. Anyone know what the unknown doc is? Also if anyone has copies of the paperwork they used at the DMV in 68 as I described above I could look at because one of my copies is far from clear. (I would love to get clearer copies , but I'm far from MD and the DMV don't seem too interested) Anyone who can offer any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as the previous owners of these cars are slowly dropping off one by one and I would like to put together the history of this car. The people who once had contact numbers for the lady that owned the car no longer have her number or even know where she is. I figure she is now in her mid 60's and believe the husband had passed close to 10 years ago now. Please help if you can..... VIN is 124377N206342 |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
It has dawned on me that I have hi-jacked this thread.....
Apologies and should I start my own post? Moderators feel free to move or let me know and I can start my own post. Sorry and Thanks |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
I've done plenty of title searches in MD where they've taken a black marker to the owner info. I just hold the page up to a light and it shows right through - unless they've started photocopying the sheet after the black marker treatment, it should work. MD is a great state for title work, if you think you are missing something or would like a better copy - just send a nice letter along with a copy of the sheet in question and they will respond. No need to send additional funds. They have been really responsive in the past....VA, no chance!!

Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Marlin ,
I tried holding the paperwork up with no success. Thanks Geoff |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Anyone else able to assist?
|
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
NO luck on tracking down the people from the exhaust shop?
Paul |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
No Paul ,
I spoke with the guy who has taken over the shop from the owner , who knew the people but that's as far as it goes. Old contact number is no good. Its really frustrating so close yet so far. Need someone who has an in at NCIB or some thing because these previous owners are dropping off nowadays. |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Geoff:
Here's what I have found thus far: As you stated Dale Terrill passed away: Jan 31, 2004, born: June 11, 1939 would have been 76 or so died at 64 yrs old. Dale and Sharon Terrill (1 R in Sharon's name) lived at 1619 Sun Bruno Street, Fairfield Ca. 94533. Trail on Sharon kinda died out, I have a feeling she moved out of state. Their house was sold on Jan 19, 2010. Local post office won't give any forwarding info but said if a letter was mailed to Sharon at that address and if they have a forwarding address they will forward the letter. Local post office # 707-425-2789. I'll look some more as time allows. Paul |

Paul , Your hard work has certainly turned up more than I have so far. Thank you very very much The reason I originally said SHARRON was from a Dymo Label stuck above the heater control panel which you might be able to read in the picture. In this it has the 2 x R in her name. |
Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Paul ,
Wondering if you were able to dig up a middle name or initial in your research for Sharon? Once again , thanks for your hard work. Thanks Geoff Smith |

Re: Lustine Chevrolet..
Geoff:
Unfortunately all they listed was forst and last. Here's 1 of the links, don't know if you want to pay for more info, scroll down to line 28, you'll see Dale to the right as a relative: http://www.usa-people-search.com/Fin...errill-CA.aspx Call the library and ask them to pull the yellow pages back from before they moved and see if tere is a middle name there?
