Appalachia rotter Yenko
Anybody know anything about a legit 69 Yenko Camaro rotting into the ground in eastern KY?
Friend of mine says he knows of one, said that his dad said it's been sitting there as long as he can remember. He's gonna get me pics and I will post them.He said it had a tree growing through it and it was rotted to the ground. Will post pics when I get them. |
Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
There was a well-known Fathom Green/auto sitting off Highway 51 here in WI. Sat outside in the mud for years; gone now.
Maybe the story lost something over time. |
Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
I'm guessing the tags are gone off of it. Would be nice to see a pic of the hidden vin if they are.

Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
The WI. fathom-green Yenko Camaro you speak of is now sitting high and dry in safe hands.

Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko

Is this the yenko your restoring? I remember Tom Billigan talking about that some yrs ago - there was an old thread on that as well. |
Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
I have been looking for that old thread with pics of the green WI camaro. Does anybody have the link to the old thread?

Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
Here's the email I got from the local guy:
<span style="font-style: italic"> Theres no doubt its real i was talking to dad and he said its been there as long as he can remember. It would just be a vin tag pretty much last time i seen it there really was a tree about an inch round growing up threw it. Hes got a sting ray sitting in the carport with 12 miles on it and its covered in car parts starters shit like that. Dad say hes got a copo aluminuim 427 car. And a 302 z28 that my uncle bought new a bunch of crazy shit like that. I dont think u can see the yenko good enough from the road to tell what it is. But i will take some pics and email the to u so u can post em i aint figured out how to from my cell that wat i use to get on the forum. I can buy stuff of this guy but most cant he weird and its not a junk yard if u say junk or junk yard u will leave. U will see what it is. If i bought the yenko i would take the vin tag and leave its that bad.</span> |
Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko

Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
My in-laws live in Eastern KY; they're awesome people, but there are some "different" people there as well (just like everywhere I suppose).
They live in the Ashland / Flat Woods / Greenup area. Is that in the general area, or more south? Not interested, just curious. |

Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
Sure looks to be a 33 when I run it through my "sharpen" filter program and add a little more contrast.

VIN cut out on an original 1969 Camaro dash. All of my '69 Camaros have round corners on the vin cut out. |
Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
Looks like it could be 4083 ?
|
Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
Repop sheetmetal dash for sure, looks like 033.

Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
Ok so some hillbilly tells me 8 months ago that he knows of a yellow Yenko, says his dad said it's always been a Yenko since lime 1970.
I ask the dude for a pic and BAM, it's a Yenko ViN,even if the pic was taken with a potato. The guy tells me that the strange freaky old man with the junkyard also has an aluminum 427 Camaro sitting in a barn with the engine pulled out and sitting beside it. I believe him.You can't just go into the mountains and find shit. Working on Zl-1 pics. |
Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
Hope it ends up being the real deal.
|
Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
Guy said fresh pics tomorrow.

The original engine for ZL1 # 57 is supposed to still be in eastern Kentucky.

Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
Well, you said it's not for sale and never will be for sale. Should one of us bring a biker gang over?
Jason |
Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
Do you know which Yenko it is or where it was sold from?
|
Re: Appalachia rotter Yenko
All I know is it's sitting in Brooks, Maine, owned by some weird guy that lives in a shack.
We should assemble a biker gang I think |
