Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
I saw this car at the Bloomington Gold for sale area over the weekend and what a cool car. The Nickey paperwork was amazing. I kept going back to look at the car all weekend, it was amazing.

Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
I missed the event this year Tim, but my spies out there had photos and reports back by Friday morning California time about this car. Too bad the original engine is gone at only 63000 miles.
Tell me about Jay Stahl's 65 Silver / black fuel injection coupe TANKER that was raced SCCA and is now restored. The race driver ''DAVE'' and Eric Gill were also on site with Jay and the car. Will you be at the NCRS Nationals in SAN DIEGO JUNE 30-JULY 4? I will be there July 2-4. |
Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Hi Jim, there were a tent full of "tankers" there. Some very beautiful cars there. I won't be in San Diego, it's a vintage race summer, Road America and Laguna Seca.

Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Tim, thanks for the positive comments. I've had a few fuelies and when they are dialed in, they are very fun to drive.
Speaking of big tanks, do you remember the 1964 Paris Auto Show big tank fuelie that we had a while back. That was a cool car too. See you in Monterey. |

Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
I can understand that comment comming from an A-Body GM guy While very cool, I don't recall Gold lines being available in 1964. I like the look with redlines, but only white walls or blackwalls for '64.
I put some correct repro white walls on it. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...rtible_017.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...rtible_006.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...rtible_015.jpg |

One of my favorite mid year color combos... and with the right engine!

Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Unless im reading that document wrong, the NCRS has "shipping data records" for that particular vin car??

Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Bill, it's not you. The car does look much nicer with the correct repro tires

The NCRS provides numerous services to members. 1) They provide a shipping data report which has the ship to dealer as well as the shipping date. This is info they have access to thru the NICB. 2) They will render an option/certificate regarding the authenticity of GM / factory documentation to include window stickers and verify that the window sticker matches the data from the NICB. The document I posted is the latter of the two. |

Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Stefano:
Very cool car. Did you ever figure out what was up with the Engine Number on the owner's ID? F1204RF CE. Guessing RF was the code for the fuel injection with four speed??? I don't have a <span style="font-style: italic">Chevrolet by the Numbers </span>for early 60's. Did the fuelie cars get a four digit engine id code instead of 2? Just trying to learn a bit more about the earlier Corvette's. Sherri keeps thinking she needs a mid year Corvette after we get the Z and the tube frame car done... but that is a few years away. |
Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Yes, the two digit RF code is the 375hp FI, with what would appear to be the engine build date. Not 100% on the CE designation. Ran it by the local Corvette Guys and no concrete answer provided. Since the car does have a CE engine dated close to the build of the car, maybe it got put in before it was delivered to the original owner and thus the Warranty Booklet was stamped as such? |
Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Guess I didn't read the description well enough. Didn't know it had a replacement engine.
That makes sense. Seems like they would have crossed out the original number and put in the full CE number. Although, the only CE blocks I have looked at were 69 and later. Guessing that in 64 they had some ID number on the block. I have one out in the garage. Seems like there are 5 or so digits after the CE designation. But then again, I am sure in that situation one would save the work order just in case the NEW engine failed. Did Chevy have 5 year warranty in 64 as in 69? |
Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
This sounded like a great car, I had visited with Stefano on it recently and he was very helpful and honest. I was trying to get time together to look at it as Stefano said he really wanted me to look before purchasing, I appreciate that. I'm glad it sold, but wish now I had made time to fly to Chicago to look at this car.

This Fuelie is back in our for sale inventory.
$65,000.00 |
Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Note: The original window sticker and warranty booklet have been lost, by the collector we had sold it to and are no longer with the Corvette. However, we do have hi-resolution color scans and the NCRS letter of authenticity for the original window sticker. Corvette eBay |
Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
Still a very special real car with great history. Make an offer on eBay......it needs a good and respectful new home!

Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuel Injected 375hp
How did the paperwork get "lost"? I can never understand that.
