Yenko drag cars
2 Attachment(s)
I know a lot of Yenkos were drag raced through the years, I would love to see pictures and hear how they did.
Here is ours. According to an ad in National Dragster (1-19-1996), and follow up research with previous owners #2, our Deuce was very competitive, inclduing in 1990 the NHRA Division #3 Super Street Champion. My granson Drew loves the wheelie bars and and former paint scheme. |

Here are some shots of Jim S's 69 Yenko that I restored several years ago, the Humble Hugger. Unfortunately, I have no stats on it's racing history with me. This Yenko was interesting in the fact that it was ordered with no hood stripes and the 'Yenko sYc' was not on the rear portion of the stripes.

Re: Yenko drag cars
Another Camaro, but never heard how it did racing.

Yep..now if we just locate the missing ones, and get them all in the staging lanes at the SCR. |

http://www.iowasignshop.com/images/y...small_ujar.jpg </div></div> For some reason I always thought the P&L car was a midwest racer, but then saw a vintage pic of this car at Maple Grove Dragway from the early '70's. Now, reading the latest biography on da Grump, there is some additional context and pics of this car - apparently saw a lot more of MGR than I thought! P&L could never get the car to run very competitive, certainly nowhere near where 4speed Yenko was running! |

Re: Yenko drag cars
Craig, its been a long time! Good to hear from you. I was a bit surprised to see TSE on the GY. I have some other pics of it without. Then again, TSE or Hut's Dyno shop were on everything competitive back then. Wasn't HP open house this weekend?? That is always the weekend of Carlisle??

Re: Yenko drag cars
Hay Steve, yes the open house was Saturday, didn't have a chance to go to it. Hope to see you sometime this year! C

After you go to the post area, there are a bunch of boxes above where your text would go. Click on the fifth one from the left side, the one with the blue arrow thingie, then just follow along. It's so easy even I can do it. |
Re: Yenko drag cars
This is my favorite one ...cause it's from my own back yard...and ironically enough earlier this week I went to pick up some gravel and I got talking to a guy about cars since he had a '70 Challanger and '70 AAR Cuda sitting in one of his sheds and as we talked he was saying back in the 1980s he missed out on a dark Green Yenko Camaro that was a race car and sat at a gas station for years just down the road where he lived...which was close to the local drag strip.
