Yenko Nova
Kind of wondering why this hasn't been posted yet on the SYC forum???? Unless I missed it. Another Barn find Yenko. I wonder what it took to buy this one. COOL CAR!

Re: Yenko Nova
If this is an original paint car. That stencil needs to be reproduced. How cool is that. With the cars I have seen I don't remember the stencil even looking like that?

Re: Yenko Nova
Very Cool!!! I think this was in a trailer in western PA and Marlin and others have known of it for years if I recall correctly. Sounds like this fellow was able to persuade him out of his Deuce. I can' t remember which dealership delivered this. Sport mirrors, original valve covers, exh manifolds... it may have led an easy life. Which tranny? Thanks for posting. Re: Yenko Nova
Looks like an automatic Sam, dipstick is there in one under hood pic...
|
Re: Yenko Nova
Ah, yes. I see it -thanks. PS too! Quite a few options on this one. Wonder if it is State College or Canonsburg delivered?
Come on Marlin! What's the low-down? |
Re: Yenko Nova
There are no C. Red auto trannies from PA on the "inventory sheets" (25/35 accounted for...on inventory sheets).
|
Re: Yenko Nova
would be great if new owner brought to MCACN under the "Found As Is" category. so cool
|
Re: Yenko Nova
I had heard about this car. There were a couple of people after it for years... Well someone got lucky. Congrats to the new owner.

Re: Yenko Nova
The poster on the Nova site says it has a bunch of original paper, showing it delivered to Ammon R. Smith.

Black Snake under the hood could lead to an interesting nick-name for this Deuce !! The "York" writing on the back of the trailer supports that this Deuce is in that part of PA. Neat car, original owner. Always neat to see a well-documented Deuce NOT on the inventory list. I am sure it is on Marlin's list!!

Re: Yenko Nova
I'll have to check out the pics, this one was still with the original owner who bought it at A. R. Smith. CR with a/t, we don't have the inventory sheet for this one. Glad it has found daylight!
I see it has P/S, so it is either Yenko Stock Number: YS-107, YS-109 or YS-110. Note the NNN decal - as Wayne was probably the first person ever to see this car way back in the early 80's in the local mall parking lot. He spoke to her, and they joined NNN for a bit. Then they dropped out of site and the car went into the trailer. |
Re: Yenko Nova
WOW! Very cool! Original woman owner, those are cool stories. Marlin, do you know any of the details of her original purchase or early owner experience?
There was a thread here YEARS ago agout the "Marsha" Deuce that was found in I believe IA several years back. I have been trying to find that thread for a few weeks and haven't been able for the life of me! Another cool original woman owner barn find story! I believe her and another girl friend both bought new Deuces. |
Re: Yenko Nova
And, Beverly Warren was the original owner of Tommy K's Gibb/Harrell #44 Nova. Sold at Courtesy Chev in LA.
This Duece is cool |
Re: Yenko Nova
I don't know the story on this one, it's been hidden away for 20 years or so. The Marsha deuce was also neat because her best friend also purchased a deuce new - a FG one! They used to park together at the meat packing plant in IA.
|
Re: Yenko Nova
cool another Ammon smith deuce survived. I find it neat that all 3 of the deuces they sold are still in the area after 42 yrs.

Re: Yenko Nova
I got a call yesterday from a good friend that I trade and sell back and forth with, and HE is the NEW proud owner. He wamts me to see the car on Wednesday of this week. It is what everyone here says----one owner, "trailer find" original drivetrain, etc. My friend told me the car was re-painted once in the '80s. It had been hidden for quite some time and he knew about the car the whole time. Timing is everything in our hobby, and the stars were in align for him. Believe it or not, he has a collection of cars that are not un-like this one............original, GOOD CARS. I will give you all an update after I see it, but it seems like the "cat is already out of the bag!"

Only 2 of the 3 are known, the fathom blue one went to MD in the late '70's and then went cold. |
Re: Yenko Nova
They're still out there. Very cool!

Re: Yenko Nova
Reminds me of that '85 Iroc pulled out of a container with 4 miles on it.

Any pics of that IROC after it was washed? Or did they just put it away as-is?
|
Re: Yenko Nova
Here's pics of the IROC scrubbed up for the 2011 spring Mecum auction.

Re: Yenko Nova
Neat that it is a Sport Mirror car - and they are still with the car! Funny how you can't open the wing windows with those silly things,
Missing the YENKO emblem on the fender, but has the deck lid one. Ammon R. Smith affixed a dealer decal to their cars, many times in the middle of the rear bumper - wonder if this car has one? |
Re: Yenko Nova
Wow... Does the repaint explain the odd font on the stripes? Repaint or not, awesome car.

RichPern

Actually, there are several oddities with those stripes that indicates that they were likely not from Yenko. They actually look pretty good for duplicates. |
Re: Yenko Nova
Scott, my Ammon Nova had that same sticker, but it was on the bumper and I saved it.
|
Re: Yenko Nova
I'm going to hazard a guess that they taped off most of the stripes, and replaced some. if you look at the color in the "DEUCE" it seem a tad different. And the paint is peeling around the stripes on the hood by the LT//1. That tends to make me believe they weren't taken off on the re paint. Just masked over. Maybe some pulled off with the tape and needed to be replaced, or they had them painted back on. Cronkleton's had a whole side painted on after a collision back in the day. Only the original owner will know for sure. Would sure like to visit with her.

Re: Yenko Nova
Wow, automatic, power steering, sport mirrors. Any Dixco gauges?

Looks like a tape over stripe to me also, I wanted to note the repaint before going any further. I did some stuff like that in the 80's also, when you cant get parts so you do what you have to.. and it was the 80's.... |
Re: Yenko Nova
cool car looks to be complete, clean the windows and drive she has some patina....
|
Re: Yenko Nova
Schoneye is probably correct, as there is overspray on the hood tach - so that wasn't removed for the repaint either.
Would love to see the car - as is, before it gets sold a few times. |
