Site upgrade??

I tried to open this site earlier and got a screen that said contact technical support. Now I notice that the new post numbers are missing. Is this permanent?

I had/am having the same two experiences James. I notice Rob posted an announcement in "comments" section about it. Hopefully the new post numbers will be conming back soon.

There's nothing wrong with the site...

Tibor just plugged in all the computerized stuff in his new car and it overloaded the world wide web

Good to see things are working again. Thanks for all the time & effort you guys put into this site. I know it has to be frustrating at times (probably MOST of the time), but we DO appreciate your work.

Re: Site upgrade??

Site is back up and the little red #'s are back. We had a issue with the server that is convinced out site is screwing up a bunch of their stuff so they shut the site down. We can't find anything wrong with the site so my only solution was to switch the site over to another server. Part of what took so long was migrating the over 38,000 photos that are on the site. The site should load and run faster now. More to come.

Charley,

Curious about the "38K photos". If they are hosted elsewhere why should they be a factor, or are there that many fotos actually ON this site?p

The way I understand it, they are on this site....Dog427435 probably has most of them on his street scenes thread.

That's just "attachments"...we also have an old photo gallery as well. Inline images (eg, photobucket) had no bearing on the migration.

If Tibor stopped building cars all the time...we wouldn't have those endless threads with photos of rusty NU-Yawk cars that have been transformed into automotive artwork

Just did a few searches on a variety of topics, and noticed nothing was showing up earlier the 2008.
I know you just did some major maintenance,so figured we're probably going to get those archives back slowly over time...right?

Theyre all there, you just have to set the date range when you search (go to advanced)...otherwise the default is 200 results or 4(?) years...i can't remember exactly, but I think we have threads back to around 2000?

Not a problem, the site has been a little out of sorts lately!

Re: Site upgrade??

I've never used the little red #'s feature before and don't see them anywhere?
Do I need to click on something to liven this up?

When viewing threads w/ links to older threads that don't work anymore, is there a way to use part of the link (topic # or whatever) and mix it w/ a more current beginning to make it live again?

And makes no matter but I noticed you have to be signed in now to see the Active Topics, previously available to everyone but now members only?

Thanks again to all the unsung heroes here behind the scenes!
