May be needing an Inspection? Original Paint L78.
A client is getting close to perhaps needing an inspection on this 1969 L78 Camaro SS/RS. Anyone know of this car? I seem to remember talks of it....I just cannot remember if it was on here? It`s only a 4 owner car, claims to be original paint. No docs The other engine stamp in near the oil filter.

Dan you should contact Albert or Bill Rose to see if the car is close by and if one of them is availabile or have a recommendation to someone they trust.

Re: May be needing an Inspection? Original Paint L78.
... It says in the questions area... that "The casting date on the block is: C-12-9." ..... and shown in the photos the engine assembly date which is stamped on the front pad... "T0319JH" ...Does that mean that the motor was built 7 days after the block was cast? |
Re: May be needing an Inspection? Original Paint L78.
That is precisely what that means and is not uncommon period between block casting and engine assembly. Shorter periods have been documented.
|
Re: May be needing an Inspection? Original Paint L78.
... Then ... after the motor was built .... the car was assembled on the 4th week of March (03D ) .... which is 2 weeks later? |
Re: May be needing an Inspection? Original Paint L78.
All in the realm of possibility and documented reality. BTW an "03 D" car just means that assembly was scheduled for starting on the 4th week of March. May have been completed the next week.

Re: May be needing an Inspection? Original Paint L78.
Per Chevy records the last car off the line March '69 was N623587. Last production day is assumed to be March 26 so N622477 rolled off the line March 25.

Re: May be needing an Inspection? Original Paint L78.
Where is the "fully documented" that he speaks of
Fully documented has taken on new meaning these days and has very little to do with real, original factory and/or dealer paperwork! |
Re: May be needing an Inspection? Original Paint L78.
What kind of springs are on that car? It's just grass not a marsh.

Re: May be needing an Inspection? Original Paint L78.
Thats what I noticed. That thing is sitting higher than factory specs.

Re: May be needing an Inspection? Original Paint L78.
Inspection is not needed, no longer interested in this Camaro.
