I am literally drooling all over my key board. That car is beyond gorgeous. Don't like the "new" gauge under the dash though.

Re: Mickey Thompson Aluminum Pontiac Engine
I really never checked on the car to see if it is a 62 that a 61 roof was put on or a 61 that had 62 1/4s put on.Seems like WAY easyer to put 62 stuff on the 61 body.Tom

About fifteen years ago there was a 62 Cat with a 61 roof on it sitting in a field outside Table Rock, Nebraska. Never checked the tag, but it looked well done, not hacked at all. Too bad it was rotting away to nothing. |

Re: Mickey Thompson Aluminum Pontiac Engine
NO alu engines were ever put in a car for the public or racers. Thanks for finding that old article. It pretty much tells the whole story about this engine.I sold the car with the alu engine in it along with the original 326.The buyer then swapped engines and put the alu engine in the 62 car.I sold it with both a 2-4 setup and the tripower set up.The early alu blocks were way diff from the developmental 69-73 blocks. The later blocks had 4 bolt main,a reinforced lifter bore area and used block mounted starters. They were designed for the RA V program.I just sold my alu block RA V engine. It is going to Washington state with a Judge the target.Tom
