Re: 1964 pontiac

How is the interior and chrome? An interior for that car can get real expensive.

Re: 1964 pontiac

----A 64 GP without options takes a pretty good hit value wise. I think Jim is more in line at $5000 and I watch these cars whenever they come up for sale as I had a really good one. For this to have any real value it would have to have a 4spd and either a 389 or 421 tri-power. Secondarily, options help a ton. AC, pw, ps,,,,,etc. really help the bottom line.......Bill S

Re: 1964 pontiac

I agree.... a 4 speed really drives up the value on these cars as the automatic transmissons were junk....

Re: 1964 pontiac

My theory is, not a ton of guys wake up on a Sat morn and tell themselves..'I need a 64 Grand Prix today'

When somebody buys an 'off' model car..usually it's the price that drive's 'em.

I had a 63, 8 lug wheels with 18k and original EVERYTHING... I bought it 'cheap' and sold it 'cheap +$1000' [I made it a nicer car along the way..]years ago...took a while to sell too...and it was a Georges car.

Re: 1964 pontiac

I believe PUI has the interior for those cars now so not near as bad as having to deal with SMS.Look REAL carefull at the trunk pan.The rear window leaks, goes under the rubber mat and rusts them from the inside out. When they get real bad the water goes in the wells and rusts out the rear frame mounts.Repo trunk pans are not avail.Rear frame mounts are.Tom

Re: 1964 pontiac

----Theres a reason that 63/64 GPs trunk pans rotted. The change on the assembly line to build a 63/64 GP roof was not engineered well even though it looked fantastic. GMs answer was to absolutely pack the window channel with dum-dum and hope for the best. The best part rarely happened and GPs made during those two years leaked into the trunk on a regular basis. I did as good as humanly possible to stem the tide on the 64 I had and was only partially successful.......Bill S

Re: 1964 pontiac

It was all 61-64s as far as I know.I have owned both GPs and cats and venturas and all had some kind of trunk pan damage from the inside.Actually never a 64 but 61-62 and 63s.Have a 62 GP and a 63 Cat in my garage right now,Tom

Re: 1964 pontiac

----Hey Tom,,,Did they all have huge amounts of that white dum-dum under the chrome trim? Thats what I have found under the window trim of all the big body Ponchos I have owned or worked on from that era. Just happens that they were all GPs.....Bill S
