Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
427 crankshaft with a 454 block so you get 452ci.

427 and 454 both had the same bore, so a 427 crank in a 454 block gets you 427 cubic inches..... or so. |

|
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
motion tuned
|
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
I watched this car all day on ebay on Monday.....I am not ruling anything out, as I have never seen this Chevelle in person.
A few of my notes, it has a low RPM red line tach, It`s a Kansas Built Chevelle, No "L" on trim tag, VIN #394673 Who ever is the new owner, I personally invite you to attend this years MCACN`s and bring this Chevelle in it`s current AS IS CONDITION.....what better stage would you have to show the world this Chevelle and possible have Joel Rosen give the car a look over. I hope you BRING IT! Dan |

Personally I hope it turns out to be another Cool Motion ride. To bad I didn't see it for sale earlier myself I would have scooped it up.

Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
$3,500. Ugh. If a real B-M, that contends for one of the best scores of the century, lol.
|
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?

Congrats! on the buy! Hope you enjoy the car as is , as its being restored , and when its done! Each process is an adventure ! Joe |
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
It looks like a made up car to me. Notice the hood and top of header panel and top of fenders have newer green paint yet the rest of the car is rusty and faded. Heater box was taken off and painted over and put back on, motor looks mocked up. Steering wheel, underdash gauges, and other tell tale items are some of the easiest added pieces on any car. I hope I am wrong because I love seeing Motion cars coming out of the woodwork but the car looks like it was made to be a teaser to sell it easily.

Looks like a mechanical hanging on the block, anything out back? |

-Matt </div></div> That's an awful lot of work to be "a teaser". I'd like to see the wheel caps up close, not many of those 40 yr old units in good shape. As far as the the hood paint goes, don't forget the hood was repainted to match the car's original color, fender tops may have been blended in as well along with the sport mirrors. |
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
I hope its real as I think most if not all of us do. Matt does bring up some good points though.
trader1, care to share any more info with us? More pictures? Jason |
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
my understanding is that the car still retains it's original 3.31 non posi rear, so one would have to question if (or why) a 427 Motion car would have been built without a rear gear & posi conversion too.
|
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
The hood is fiberglass so it of course wont give off the same aged look as metal fenders that can surface rust.
|
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
how about the header panel? i'm with matt on this one
|
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
The top of the header panel (not the bottom part of the header panel over the grille) and the top of the fenders. No where else is the paint so nice. If the car was aged completely together, you wouldn't have that. Just my opinion as there are quite a few of "never was" cars that have been "done up" and aged to fool buyers.
|
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
This would be cool if it was a real Motion car, but as previously mentioned it has the low rpm redline tach and it looks like two fuel lines coming out the front cross member. That would mean 325/350hp 396. Kansas built car. Maybe Motion Prepped?
Interesting car. Phil Woj. |
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
Where did the car go? Looks like alot of Motion hardware.
Joe |
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
There are a few threads about this car on the Chevelle site. Rumor is the car was made up to hook a fish on the ebay auction. Read for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
For what he bought the car for he still got a great deal. I think if it was a scam the seller would of tried to get more $$$$. If it turns out to be fake I will give him 5k all day for the chevelle.

Couldn't have said it better! |
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
Ditto... Good deal if the buyer paid that price.

Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
Rumor is the Seller still has the car and the Buyer backed out after learning more about the car. The agreed price was well above the price shown online in the ebay auction. Look at the Seller's Ebay feedback and then decide if it is logical to think the Seller would not know something given all the "decorations" on the car.
If you are interested in the car, suggest you do your own due diligence and draw your own conclusions. Maybe it can be purchased at a reasonable price now. |
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
Right, it is rumor. I am going to start a very good one. A little birdie told me that someone has sent off for documentation for the chevelle. Charlie by the way I would love to see some pics of my old camaro. Thanks.

Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
Which Camaro ?
|
Re: So was this a Motion Chevelle?
I just talked to the former owner, the car is gone, it has been sold. Case closed
