Let me brag on my son

My 12 year old son pitched his first game tonight at the 90 ft base level. (That's were the adults play). He did really good. Went on the mound with bases loaded, one out and full count on the current batter. Three straight strikes and also struck out the next batter to get out of the jamb. Pitched one more inning and only two runners got on base before getting the third out. He is small for his age, but makes up for it with alot of tenacity.

I had a similar story about myself. Felt awsome! Good for your son!

Congrats! Awesome performance.

I have a 17 month old son and hopefully I'll be telling similar stories about him someday. You should be proud!

Thanks guys. I don't have delusions of grandeur, but if he keeps it up, I hope he may have what it takes to get an education out of it.

Big thing is not to live through their eyes. Let them have fun and be a kid for as long as they can.

That's performance under pressure. Is he throwing any breaking stuff yet?

Re: Let me brag on my son

His coach is letting him throw a change up that is pretty mean. He has a 55 to 60 mph fast ball, but the change up is 12 to 15 mph slower and the bottom falls out right at the plate. But he goes through his windup at the same speed he throws his fastball, so the batter is expecting one. They always swing way out in front and miss or ground out between third and short. He is still growing as far as teaching him any arm twisting stuff.

I remember when my boys played ball at that age. I helped warm up the pitchers and those kids would zing those balls in and scare me silly.

Here is a picture of him when he was 9. Keep in mind he hadn't showed any interest in sports until he was 8. So this was the beginning of his second year playing. He also has 20/70 vision in his left eye. Dr. said he may never be able to pass the eye test for his drivers lic.

Not sure about the laws where you live but I can tell you here in Illinois I am driving with one blind eye (since birth). All that they required are corrective lenses and a passenger side mirror.

Great story about your son.

Congratulations. My son also plays competitive 12U travel baseball - so I know the feeling. Maybe we'll see you this summer at a national tournament.
