69 Judge Survivor
My friend runs MuscleCarAlley restorations in NY and I hang out there from time to time. and even built their website. well today i popped in to update the website and low and behold... an unrestored 1969 GTO Judge 4-Speed was in there. i took some pics for the website and climbed all over this thing. just way cool to even put in words. as ive never actaully sat in a real judge. the interior even tho 42 years old and untouched had the best feeling seats ive ever sat in.
enjoy the pics... i did. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...DSC01531-1.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...DSC01530-1.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSC01538.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...DSC01532-1.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSC01535.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSC01544.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSC01543.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...DSC01533-1.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSC01545.jpg |
Re: 69 Judge Survivor
what a great car! I hope they leave it alone.

Re: 69 Judge Survivor
unfortunately not.. those are my sentiments as well. it is starting to gather some rust that needs attention, but nothing id worry about if it were mine... its only original once. it has had a 3/4 repaint once in its life quite a while ago.
more pics. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSC01536.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSC01539.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSC01537.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/DSC01534.jpg |
Re: 69 Judge Survivor
well then do just a nice repaint and a real good clean up and NOT a frame off. Its a shame IMO to always take these cars apart for no good reason. Once they do that the cars become nothing but lawn ornaments. Gotta drive em.

Very nice. Thanks!

Re: 69 Judge Survivor
I owned one of the best survivor 69 hurst olds I had ever seen and the new owner did a body off. Killed me to see a rust free one quarter panel repaint get taken apart. Car looks great now but with the new focus on survivor cars would have been one of the best. So what if it had lacquer check, that is what 40 year lacquer does. Lee

Re: 69 Judge Survivor
i fully agree fellas. this is a customers car for them, so i dont know exactly whats planned yet. but im pretty sure it slated for the concours treatment. time will tell, as things always change from the original plan.

Fully get it if it's a true untouched survivor (ie Charley's Z), but might be cool to take care of that metal before the rust progresses? Nice car! |
Re: 69 Judge Survivor
the cars not for sale.... the owner has already turned down multiple offers from what ive heard. i didnt ask the full details of what the owner/customer wants done with the car. all i was told was thatthe customer wants a "full body off concours restoration" at this point in time. it hasnt been touched yet and maybe time will change the owners decision.

It will lose its personality IMO. |
Re: 69 Judge Survivor
I'd leave it alone. Frame-offs are for field finds..

Re: 69 Judge Survivor
That car is not as untouched as you think. Its been repainted. Look at the clips and bolts that hold the wheelwells to the fenders. They are painted. The clips and bolts are black when thay are installed. also the rear stailess mouldings are missing from the trunklid and the front seats appear to have been redone. I would definetly do a restore to that one.

Re: 69 Judge Survivor
They did say it has had a 3/4 repaint so maybe you could still get away with just a good repaint and a real good clean up? Looks like a nice car to have though.

Re: 69 Judge Survivor
New foam on the pan & I'd be driving the **** out of it!

Re: 69 Judge Survivor
Well its all about how the owner plans on enjoying the ride. Personally I like to look at these old original rides more then I do a restored piece of art. But thats just me!

Re: 69 Judge Survivor
Kinda reminds me of a '69 Judge in Baltimore, MD owned by Wayne Garrison's dad. Wayne is pretty well known around here (Balto.) for Pontiacs and races a '69 GTO with a Judge "look". Wayne's dad bought his new and I'm fairly sure the car has had only a re-paint. The last time I saw the Judge it looked REAL good.
