Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
Hi, guys, I know some of you were there, although I don't know if I met any of you unless you own that Fred Gibb blue Camaro with the scooped hood, or the white car next to it.
Anyway, I was curious which cars were the ZL1s? I assume they were all in a line, from left to right, and then the COPO cars continued from there, right? So where did the ZL1s end and the other COPOs begin? I'm sorting out my photos and I'd hate to be wrong with how I'm designating the photos….thanks! Happy Thanksgiving! |
Re: Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
#1 & #16 were at the West end of the lineup, then another thirteen cars lined up behind them. The two orange cars completed the ZL-1 grouping.
If I have the order correct the color lineup went like this: #1 Gibb car & #16 Barnhart Dusk Blue (#2) Cortez Silver Dusk Blue (#12) LeMans Blue Fathom Green Fathom Green LeMans Blue LeMans Blue (#49) Dover White Daytona Yellow Garnet Red Hugger Orange Hugger Orange |
Re: Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
Thanks . . . a few people pointed out there were two cars that had signs that said they were ZL1 #2, but I didn't follow up with it. I assume the print shop made a typo? I noticed a Chevlele, so it's possible.

Re: Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
There where two cars that said # 12 but Eddie Martin has # 12 and reggie Jackson's white was was labeled # 12 by accident.

Re: Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
What # is reggies white one really?

Maybe this will help - it's the document I prepared to help us do the floor plan. Stuber's #65 never showed. Actually they had #12, #40 and #51 all numbered as #12 for some reason...

Re: Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
Nice - thanks!
Whoever the print shop was certainly didn't have their $#!+ together. |
Re: Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
Another question: ZL1 #1 also was Dusk Blue, right?

ZL-1s #1 & #2 were Dusk Blue. Gibb ordered 5 colors, 10 cars each, 6 4-speeds and 4 automatics. They are a good example of how the "COPO Body Number Theory" doesn't always apply. #1 is NOR 222002, #2 is NOR 222003. NOR 222001 [#14] was the first Gibb ZL-1 ordered [NCJ016] and is Le Mans Blue. Trivia: The #17 car is 222017; the #25 car 222025. The first ZL-1 ordered is the #3 Berger car: NOR 211785. |
Re: Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
Charley rightly points out that the 2012 Corvette ended up actually being a Grand Sport Convertible 100th Anniversary Edition. We laid out the floor plan prior to the cars actually showing up and we were told it was going to be a ZR1. It was pretty fluid...

Re: Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
What was that red '68 Nova that was being wheeled in? Was it the car that some people think was campaigned by Fred Gibb Chevrolet? But then I noticed a Harrell badge on the hood . . . memory is not what it used to be, I'm afraid.

Re: Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
Not "THE" Gibb race car, but definitely one of the 50 COPO Novas with apparent Harrell provenance.

Re: Question on the ZL1s at MCACN
That was the most awesome display of cars I've ever seen!!!!!
