my 69 z28 survivor,
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, testing to see if my pic works here... I took out my 69 z last night for a photo at the local gm dealer with the new camaros. My car is a mostly original paint (80%) all matching numbers early 69 with a flat hood. Hope the pics work!

here is a photo of the back of it, this is when i got the car. Someone had stolen the z28 emblem off the rear. The car had been sitting since the 70's in a shed that looked like you could push it over.

last one i have, as of now. If you notice, someone back in the day had painted the underside of the car white, which probably saved the car as is it super clean with no rust anywhere on the floors, rockers, etc. The front fenders were soft on the bottoms, and one rear quarter has a little soft spot also.

Re: my 69 z28 survivor,

Re: my 69 z28 survivor,
WOW... I am diddin' that flat hood..but I thought all 69 Z's came with a cowl hood....
So what is the build date ? You may have opened up a can of worms here too....Now it is required that we see under hood pics... |
Re: my 69 z28 survivor,
Vin is 124379l525407, original vin stamped motor and trans. Original rear also. Its a Los car, no x codes here ! luckily the car had original paint, motor and trans and rear

Re: my 69 z28 survivor,
NICE! I love it! How it never got a spoiler or cowl hood in the first 20-25 years of it's life surprises the crap outta me!!
|
Re: my 69 z28 survivor,
Have you checked on the gas tank for a build sheet yet?
|
Re: my 69 z28 survivor,
I've got the build sheet, but its hard to read, pretty much can see the radiator code

Re: my 69 z28 survivor,
I think there were only so many hoods to go around and the Pace Cars and COPO's got them first I believe.
|
Re: my 69 z28 survivor,
Only 11% of all 1969 Z-28s got the ZL-2 hood. So do the math? On the cars you see today! Benny

That number depended on how many orders GM received for the cowl hoods.

Re: my 69 z28 survivor,
I really like the colors with the vinyl roof, and no spoilers,
very nice looking Z28. |
Re: my 69 z28 survivor,

Re: my 69 z28 survivor,

where can you find a percentage like that? I understand there were only production totals of all OPTIONS, not combinations of options ... ie : 10,026 ZL2 hoods for the 1969 model year subtract 3,675 for all the Z11 pace cars then subtract whatever number for Z10 pace cars then subtract whatever number of COPO cars, L72, ZL1, as all of those got the hood that leaves the number of SS & Z28 Camaros that could have opted for the hood option 1969 SS production: 34,932 Z28 production 20,302 I am not aware of any EXACT number or percentage of Z28's built with ZL-2 hoods (or any other combos), any numbers would only be a WAG based off percentage of the RPO's |
Re: my 69 z28 survivor,
Is the illegibility of the build sheet due to staining or fading?
Staining whether from tar or oil can be removed. Fading is a bit more of an issue? |
Re: my 69 z28 survivor,
Great Find! Can you tell us any history on the car? More Pictures please.
Mike |
Any updates or recent pics on this car ? really cool car !!!

The ZL2 hood was included with COPOs 9560 & 9561 and is never listed on docs for those cars. Not included in the ZL2 total of 10,026. Production totals indicate there were 997 L72 COPO Camaros. |
