Firestone Sport Car 200 E70 15 Tires - Decode
I need help decoding a couple of original E70 15 Firestone Sport Car 200 tires from a 1969 Camaro Z/28. There has been plenty of discussion on other treads about the perils of driving on this tires so to be clear I only intend to use them for stationary show and for a spare tire(non-use). I am also curious about the current market value of these tires (individually). One has 50% wear with some sidewall cracking and the other about 1,000 miles and is cosmetically strong.http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/7...ortcar2001.jpg

Good pickup Bill, one of the tires is a "blem", however as none are going into road service I'm most interested in the dates and market values.

Re: Firestone Sport Car 200 E70 15 Tires - Decode
Update - I contacted Coker tire who reproduces the Firestone SC 200 for help with date decoding. They responded that they were unable to help - disappointing.

Re: Firestone Sport Car 200 E70 15 Tires - Decode
are the tread patterns the same on both? on one firestone is right side up, on the other its upside down. sorry i cant help with the decode
|
Re: Firestone Sport Car 200 E70 15 Tires - Decode
I can't comment on the tread pattern as I have only received pictures and have not the tires in person. As the Firestone SC 200's were a one-year-only design I can only assume the pattern is the same.

Re: Firestone Sport Car 200 E70 15 Tires - Decode
I have checked my sources. We can decode Goodyears, but no 'Stones.

Thanks for checking. Seems decoding the SC200 is a lost science.

Re: Firestone Sport Car 200 E70 15 Tires - Decode
the reason i ask, is that the repros i bought have a different tread pattern from my orig spare. want to make sure you are getting the real deal

I pulled the trigger and bought one of the SC200's in the photos with very light tread wear for use as a (prop) spare. Will take and post a couple of pix when it arrives. I have confidence in the seller. |

Re: Firestone Sport Car 200 E70 15 Tires - Decode
I hate to tell you but there is no unique sequence in decoding Firestone tires from the 60's and 70's, prior to the U.S. DOT regulations. Tire manufacturers were not required to do so.
The best process is contact Firestone directly and inquire there. Regards |

Re: Firestone Sport Car 200 E70 15 Tires - Decode
Just purchased another Firestone Sport Car 200 tire mounted on an original paint YH wheel. Hoping someone can decode the tire date code (and provide decoding details)?
