Yenko Chevelle Prices
Last spring Mecum sold a red Yenko Chevelle for $240K. Recently they sold a blue one for $164K. Any reason for such a price variation?

Re: Yenko Chevelle Prices
Perhaps, color, originality, placement in the auction, economy, matching #s, etc.
|
Re: Yenko Chevelle Prices
Maybe people holding their cash, the economy, stock market taking huge mood swings, etc.

Re: Yenko Chevelle Prices
Just a reminder!! $184,664,772 was Bought & Sold out in Monterey last month |
Re: Yenko Chevelle Prices
My opinion is that the economy has finally effected the high end cars also. I think the scales have tipped, an incredible buyers market for those with wealth.

Re: Yenko Chevelle Prices
I couldn't figure that one out, either. I saw the blue Yenko Chevelle at St. Charles and it looked like a great car with a ton of documentation. I was really surprised at the selling price, but then again, that gold '71 Hemi 'Cuda sold even lower.

Re: Yenko Chevelle Prices
Just my personal opinion but my feeling is the big buyers schedule in Mecum Indy each year as it seems to be the largest selection of high end muscle. It might just be most of the buyers went to Indy and not St Charles.

Re: Yenko Chevelle Prices
Hasn't shown up on his web site yet (private or public collection). Congrats Colin. Anyone have a link to this car? Is this the one with the DA on the trunk lid?
Thanks |

Re: Yenko Chevelle Prices
Sure prices are down, but I have to agree with Charley on that most buyers plan for Mecum Indy and Scottsdale January. There are WAY WAY WAY to many auctions now and its seems there are 1 or 2 good cars at every sale that sneak through the cracks. This was the first year that I can remember missing the St. Charles sale and man do I regret it!
I ended up with the 71' Gold Hemi Cuda that car was a steal!! But it cost me alot more than it sold for had I been there.. and even after paying more I still think I stole it. People thought something was wrong with it because it sold so cheap but the fact is that the previous owner had owned it well before the big price jumps and was tired of it and just wanted his money back.. Another example that prices aren't anywhere near as low as they seem is that fact that Colin bought the Blue Yenko Chevelle.. I consider Colin one of the more knowledgeable smart car guys out there and I'd bet a case of beer that if you called him and asked him to sell the car you wouldn't come close to buying it for anywhere near what he paid.. Definately a case of being in the right place at the right time! |

I have been saying this for a while that with the lousy economy and the fact that auction houses have been greatly expanding the number of venues annually that it will hurt prices. There is not the sense of urgency when there's a sale practically every couple of weeks. I expect this trend to continue until the bottom line is effected. |
Re: Yenko Chevelle Prices
Maybe Colin purchased it for someone else.

Re: Yenko Chevelle Prices
