The new flying dutchman!
Something new for this year,in the dutchman racing car. We;re installing a 496 motor in the car. The motor was built by Sams buddy Pete. He;s the same guy that built the one thats in the car now. This motor got a mechanical roller, 12:5 compression, single four barrel.Should fire it tomorrow. We went 11:21 with the old motor. Should be able to run in the 10s, with this one. BBBenny

Better be in the 10's. Will have something to do with the "race day tune up". I also believe the old motor had some 10.80's in it too. I guess your B/MP car just moved up to A/MP Benny. Next year I hear the Lehighton Flash is going to a Jerico. The Professor really wants to show his students he can drive and tune! YEAAA Prof!

Don't tell him that Ken. I am just trying to get him to charge the battery in that nova before each race and you want 9 second ET's? He may have to take a timing lite and a tire gauge to the track then. GEEZE!

I knew we should have taken more off the wheel well lips. You can run 10.50s on 9in slicks. You may need to tweak the suspension a little more.

I know you will see the "Flash" at Atco, Cecil, Maple Grove, Island, Numida and Englishtown. Maybe time to visit the east coast tracks Bob. Bring the family.

Here;s the update. Fired the motor, got all the little things squared away. Set the timing up. It idles at 1,200. rpm;s. Gave it three hole shots, at the garage parking lot. Coming off at 1,500,it nails you to the seat. Whole lot more bottom end. Should be something on the 1,320!!! Sunday, Sunday. Benny

Sammy, I got a weind G-force intake, and a 800 holley, fatten up for a start. Pete, said no monster carbs. Benny P/S, I put air in the slicks, they where flat. Just for the record.

If he put the single carb and intake on last year he probably would have run in the high 10's. Of course after he charged the battery and put air in the slicks. Gotta do that at least once a season I figure. Keep the updates coming!

It was all motor and all bbbenny guys. He had a great day. One great way to start off the season. Just a few adjustments and I see some 10.40's in his future. But as the PR man, I will leave the rest to the Flash!
Once again, my hat goes off to the crew from Donahue! It may be a drag car and have some racin rash, but the paint and bodywork looks great! |
