My Dad's LS6 build sheet

Hi guys, I've been searching for my dad's old LS6 for a while and in a stroke of luck the 3rd owner had the build sheet and its in awesome shape. My dad was the original owner and My trail ends in 1983 with a guy from St Charles IL who bought it. Check out the sheet and tell me what you think!

Hult Chev was not a well-known dealer but was part of the Yenko network. My research shows they sold 6 Yenko Camaros. I was chasing a JL-8 car some years ago; also came from Hult. By then the former owner was working at another dealership so I visited with him. No paperwork from the old store so I passed on the JL-8 car. He told me 3 of the 6 Yenko Camaros were totaled within a few years.

Thanks Dan. I have been helping Russ for a couple months now and thought I might have found the trail twice but no such luck and the search continues.

Thanks guys and especially to you, Rick. I really appreciate the help. I am going to continue working on finding the guy and seeing where that trail leads me. The 3rd owner not only had the build sheet, but also has the protect-o-plate and all the original info from when the car was bought. heres a picture of the car in late 1970.

Nice shot Russ. Good luck with your search. Your Dad already had beefier rear tires on it in this shot!

I have a friend that worked at Hult Chevrolet back then. He said he remembers 3 white 1969 Yenko Camaro's with black stripes right next to each other.

I thought i read and was told that Hult Chevrolet was known for selling it's share of performance cars back in the day.My survivor L34 Nova supposably was purchased there by the original owner also.

I don't believe that this is a true statement, John's car was a Real Yenko Camaro sold through Jack Douglas Chevrolet. Here is John's add when he put the car up for sale in the cars for sale section:

John's add

For sale is one of only two white 1969 Camaro’s to be sold as a Yenko. This Yenko has 39k original miles it still retains the original trans, rear end, sheet metal, and interior.
The engine is a correct matching number restoration engine but is not the original one to the car. The block was a correct 512 427 4 bolt block dated B19. The assy date is T0321MN 840 heads, 499 distributor, 837 alternator, 164 carb. Original 163 intake complete correct smog setup. The motor was professionally balanced and rebuilt last year and has less than 500 miles on it
The trans is the original matching number M21 trans that came with it from the factory. The linkage is rebuilt and the bell housing is a correct 621 11 in the clutch was new when the engine was rebuilt.
The rear end is the original BE 4:10 12 bolt that the car came with from the factory. The original 4 leaf rear springs are also still there it also has a set of traction bars.
The body is one of the nicest original body panel 1969 Camaro I have ever seen. There was never any patches or rust on this car. The quarters floors trunk and dash are the originals and never replaced.
The interior has its original front and rear seats, door panels, headliner, dash assy, 140 speedo, tach center fuel gauge. The carpet has been replaced along with a GM replacement dash pad.
The options this Yenko came with COPO 9561 L72 performance unit, COPO 9737 sports car conversion, endura bumper, chambered exhaust, tach, center fuel gauge, soft ray tinted glass, X11 style trim, AM radio and vinyl top.
This Douglass Yenko is documented by Ed Cunneen, Jack Douglass and Don Yenko. I will post documents by all three.
The price is 265k or reasonable offer. Will consider partial trades up to 75k. Please Email me for more detailed pictures.

Re: My Dad's LS6 build sheet

Was his car in the "First batch"?

I believe this explains it.....

.....The first batch of 69 Yenkos at Douglass came from Yenko Chevrolet. They had the bowties removed. The balance were Douglass ordered COPOs with Yenko graphics applied by Douglass. They broke the mold on the "Yenko base car" They ordered colors other than the 6 Yenko colors. They might have ordered other interiors than the 711 standard black. I was not aware that the JD cars had the bowtie.

....These cars that were ordered by Jack Douglas as COPO cars and had the stipes applied at Jack Douglas.... they never went thru the Yenko Dealership.

Re: My Dad's LS6 build sheet

Randy, I stated that the stripes were not added by Yenko, you say that is incorrect, so please point out to me in John’s description where it states that the Yenko stripes were added by Yenko Chevrolet, Canonsburg.

According to the original owner of my camaro, my car was sitting with 3 yenko camaros in the Hult dealership on the showroom floor (from june to october). That dealership supplied a lot of cool stuff back in the day (he received the first over the counter L88 (in wisconsin) for putting in his race car there). I talked with one of their old part counter guys there and he said most of their customers wanted the 427 engine (a pure copo w/o yenko affiliation)and could care less about a car being a yenko. Yenko had the dealership constrained (according to him) that they could not sell a 427 around the yenko dealer license. The dealership told the owner of my car to bore out the L78 block and you have a something close to 427 copo but it looked better (it had everything else on it, they ordered it that way, the zl-2 hood, M21, 4:10, HD cooling).

I think Hult (thorstat) was a pretty significant musclecar dealership in wisconsin in my opinion, versus being little known. I need to check the yenko chevelle list, I think more than a few of those were sold there if you check it, could be wrong.

Welcome aboard Russ!.

Regardless of build sheet info, is it sure this car was delivered new as a Hult or Thorstad car?.
Also regarding the 608 Washington address noted on the build sheet, was either the Hult or Thorstad dealership ever operating at this address or was it perhaps a billing address/offices?.

Best of luck finding your Dad's LS6!.

Hult was at 608 east washington ave. That is 100% correct. Thorstad was on park st. That other address is false. zip code is way off. That other one is milwaukee, and might have been humphry, but not hults.

Dad always said he bought the car from thorsads. This car sat on the lot until august of 1970 when dad bought it and according to the salesman, was the last LS6 that they had because the 71s were coming in. Dad wanted to buy a new car in 69 and went to the dealership and swears that they had 10 yenkos (camaros and chevelles) on the lot, but he didn't quite have enough money saved to buy a camaro. He waited till 70, looked at a yenko duece, but since he is 6'3" couldnt really fit in it. The dealership's demo chevelle has a blue/white top/white interior, LS6, 4 speed, convertible. He fell in love and went back a few weeks later, but the green chevelle was all that was left.

you know last year I had a car that pulled up behind me while putting racing fuel in the camaro (not too many places to get it around here). It was just like your car, it was all original. Same exact place your trail went cold according to your original post, which is unbelievable. If it pops up again I will get his number for you. It may still be in the area.
