Very old school, love the hood scoop. Will post more pics asap. This is one of Andy's Deuces, a W.R. Austin car from S. Norwalk, CT.

hopefully the car will be redone in its true nature and not another cookie cutter resto. A great picture with even greater history I bet! MORE!

Re: Cool Deuce pic

Actually it pretty much is a day 2 drag car. it has 12.5 pistons,a 555 lift solid cam, hooker headers,an 8 inch conv,a set of old lakewood trac bars &amp; vintage tow tabs.I might even find a vintage tunnel ram since it will have the hood on it anyways. Its probably gonna have slicks on steelies and skinnies. If anyone knows where to get a glass hood reproed I would greatly appreciate it.The hood was on the car as far back as 72or73.Real cool metal flake style Yenko crest on the side of the scoop and painted on stripes &amp; &quot;deuce&quot;.The car was orig paint(except primer on roof from previous owner)and has 20,4xx miles.I still have the WR Austin trunk emblem and the black and chrome Yenko emblems.

PxTx 03-25-2011 01:47 AM

Re: Cool Deuce pic

Tunnel ram would be a must for me. Just about every Nova in the east coast magazines cira 1973 had a TR. We just had a neat thread on Steve's Nova Site about street driven TR.

Got any more pics to share? Certainly would love to see some of it's early days. I'll try and see if I've got anything relevant for similar hood and under hood pics.

I'm with Sam on staying away from the cookie cutter resto. When a car has something to give it some unique character, and it is legitimately and historically correct for a specific vehicle, it seems a shame to wash it all away. There are enough YD that have been restored to Day 1 status anyways.

Congratulations and good luck!

Re: Cool Deuce pic

The Roofs had bought the tunnel ram set up, 4.88 gears, for their Deuce by the mid 70s and were prepared to cut their hood but did not get around to installing them.

Nice Deuce Andy. Pls keep us posted on your progress. i like where you are headed with this.

</div></div>Sure there is! At this point of the hobby when there are some many real nice over restored examples of most of the cars we love in every color they came in its time IMO to restore, repaint, fix-up the cars in question as they were used in times past. Way harder to do I bet, doing a car like Sam's Deuce than to restore one with some original and repro parts. Old, original, vintage speed parts are tough to find and expensive these days. I am sure when you walk into the York Show it has to be by now more rewarding than walking into an upscale car show with rows of Yenkos, Copo's, Z/28, Chevelles, novas what have you all in original &quot;cookie cutter&quot; trim. Over restored and under nourished. One is just shinier than the other. Hopefully the person that owns the car you have pictures of will send it back to atleast some early stage of its life as a hot rod!

Everybody has their likes/dislikes - I like to the factory original resto's, and the Day 2 stuff. There's room for both. I've skipped the York show that last several years, it got boring.

Re: Cool Deuce pic

The blue car will be an all-out day 2 race car, stickers and all, since the orange&amp;red cars are original.I just bought an old Edelbrock TR1Y(if I remember correctly) tunnel ram for it.I need Marlin's oppinion on something. My orange deuce had 5:13s in it when I bought it and the rear end looked very original. When I took the cover off, I found GM gears with a GM part# and they are 5:13s.Do you think these were ordered or dealer installed? As I said,It did look very original/un-touched with 19k miles.

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY 03-31-2011 01:41 AM

Re: Cool Deuce pic

Hey Andy,

Other Deuces have been found with gears other than 4.10's, but are usually 3.73's. The best way to tell if they were factory installed is to check the date code on the ring gear, it should predate the assy date of the rear if installed by GM. The ring gear should also have a 'GM' stamped into it.

Not much left out there to see right now IMO. Whats NOT boring and very rewarding is spending time with the family and running a junior dragster on the weekends with the whole family involved. True family involvement. Xtremely important especially in these days.

Well it was worth the wait Marlin! Excellent pictures man. X2 on your comment about the hood being the coolest ever. If this car goes bay to a day 1 resto, I'd be very happy to give that hood a nice home!

Thanks for the tow tab shot too.

I did put an old set of Don White Cragars on it though. Its a survivor Deuce man. Never a hot rod and never Day-2ed. Plus, its Vera's car she said.

Actually the tow tab pic is of my orange deuce but i'm gonna put them back on the blue car.It had a Yenko crest decal on the drivers door too.I still have(not pictured) the original black &amp; chrome yenko emblems in my tool box.I can't wait to get this car finished with the hood &amp; tunnel ram! It's too bad the orange car is the one that had the 5:13s.Gonna check the date codes on the gears tomm.Marlin, feel free to post the pics of the other 2 as well.

Re: Cool Deuce pic

I may have sat in this car when it was in the WR Austin showroom. I grew up in Norwalk. Went w/my dad to buy a new car and a dark blue Yenko Deuce was in the showroom. I was sitting in it, pretending to drive, shifting through the gears and a salesman came over and yelled at me saying I was going to damage the transmission! Dad ended up with a Plymouth Duster!

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY 04-12-2011 06:10 PM

Re: Cool Deuce pic

Pretty sure this one is an a/t, but they did have a Forest Green 4 speed car there.... May have also had an FB 4speed one that we don't know about.

TMagda 04-12-2011 06:41 PM

Re: Cool Deuce pic

I'm sure the one I was in was a 4 speed. Fairly sure it was blue but we are testing my 40 years ago memory. Several years later I was looking for a transmission. Found one listed in the Bargain News, went to the house (in Norwalk) and there was what I think was the same Duece, in really bad shape, tranny in the trunk. Bought the tranny and put into my '69 327 Camaro hot rod.

See, you DID hurt that tranny years ago!

TMagda 04-16-2011 12:15 AM

Re: Cool Deuce pic

Nooooooo! The tranny was fine. I think whoever owned it hurt the engine (it was definitely a race car) and was in the middle of a &quot;driveway engine swap&quot;, gave up and started to part it out.

TMagda 04-16-2011 12:18 AM

Re: Cool Deuce pic

The tranny did end up at either LaJoies or LeBlancs junk yard shortly after that though because the guy I sold my hot rod 327 Camaro to wrapped around a telephone pole the same day he bought it from me.

Nova Jed 04-18-2011 08:40 AM

Re: Cool Deuce pic

Take it back to the Hot Rod status. That would be so cool with that hood on it and all the decals. Awsome. Just my opion though.
