Re: AHRA Utube
Looks like my car, but it's Harry's car. One of the ways to tell them apart is the lettering. My car is I think the only car with Fred's name on the back Quarter. All of the other cars have Harrell's name on the back Quarter.

Re: AHRA Utube
Hey, this is interesting!!
http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/b...NovaSudsIN.jpg Some may have seen this photo before of the Nova taken by the "Dog-N-Suds," but this video taken at Frontier Raceway in Oklahoma City was the same race we were headed for and fixing to leave on a homemade trailer we had hurriedly put together. Made it through class eliminations, but was eliminated in the first round of finals. Running in F-3 (C/SA) we were running very close to the record at that time, which, if I remember correctly, was a 13:00 flat? In class runs, there wasn't a breakout rule, so we were could actually running mid 12:80's. F-3 was a classification AHRA designated for all 2 bbl. stockers. Yes, the 2 bbl carb slowed the car down about .7 seconds, but this class was our salvation to be competitive for a couple of years. |

Re: AHRA Utube
Thanks Kim for posting this link.
More importantly than a picture of my car, there is a matter that I witnessed at this particular event that many will be able to relate too? Some may remember when Fred Gibb was involved in documenting the #1 ZL-1 race car that Porterfield had located, Fred was further able to document the car by a patch behind the passenger door. The need for the patch in the body was because of a broken axle that pierced the side of the car. This is the race where that happened while doing a burn-out, as I got to witness. The wheel and axle left the car for a pretty good distance only to bounce around like a boomerang where the stub axle struck and pierced the car. Fred and I discussed this one day while trying to learn more about the COPO novas? Another memorable incident was in the parking lot of our motel, when "Kansas John Weibe" fired his fuel dragster up and did a burn-out about 3:00 a.m., beneath our window. |
