Who Wants To Buy The Yenko Dealership??

4 Attachment(s)
I don't even know if it is for sale but it should be bought and preserved as a tribute to Don Yenko and his cars. Perhaps a non-profit could be set up and donations taken??? It would be a shame if it were knocked down to build a 7-11! I wonder what it could possibly cost... ??

I've been waiting for years for this post. I thought someone would have done it years ago and made a museum. Can you get grants in the USA for stuff like that if it is "not for profit?" and yet you can pay folks to run it.

A while back, there was a really cool Mopar show held at an old dealership, and it was done up 1969 style. Seems like someone should be able to rent the old Yenko dealership for a week or two, fix it up with Yenko artifacts, and have a fantastic once-in-a-lifetime show. That would be awesome. Kinda like this only on a bigger scale and at the actual dealership. Thanks Caleb.

Anyone ever looked into buying the property? Any idea of what the cost would be?

I think the Barr Family would be perfect. They have enough stuff to fill it and keep it open. Marlin as the Director and Tom C. as the President. Done deal. Where do I send my donation? Sam

I have to many grandkids to have cabin fever or ever be bored. I think if that place can be preserved it should be. You are an account. Maybe we can figure out how to sell stock and we can all own a small piece of history.

Re: Who Wants To Buy The Yenko Dealership??

I'm sure someone on here knows the staus of who owns the property and what it might cost to buy it.... does anyone from the area know a realtor?

Just think how unhappy we would all be if pictures show up on here of the Yenko dealership being knocked down in the name of progress......

here is a listing for a place down the street with a brokers number. I am sure they would find out who the owner is and if it's available for you if you call.

Re: Who Wants To Buy The Yenko Dealership??

As I said before, I'm in. If that place gets bull-dozed it'll be a bad day. Maybe it could be structured like a monthly payment thing...like a "foster building"...I can hear the ad now:

"For the cost of a monthly cell phone payment you can help a building survive in far away Pennsylvania. Don't let our American musclecar heritage die - one small contribution every month can do so much. The Yenko family needs you. Please give."

Cue close up shot of big cute bug-eyes (headlights) of '69 Camaro.

End scene. Fade to black.

Seriously, though, I'd like to get involved. And the monthly thing could work.

I'm certainly interested in contributing some way. Financially or in volunteer work on the building and grounds.

If you guys want to get together and get the building, I may be interested in moving my shop up there. I would willing to be the curator of the museum, thought the showroom is small and ro restorations in the back.

On another note.. Notice the orange Yenko in the pic with no vinyl top and fender pin striping. We believe it is my car that Joe and Brian are restoring for me that they brought to MCACN. I think it's the only known one with that combo. http://www.corvettes-musclecars.com/...koBackyard.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...e=MVC-038F.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...n_IMG_1680.JPG

Now that's cool Charley! Congrats. On the last pic - is this a new way shops are displaying restos these days (done but without sub-frame attached)? New one on me.

We have been asked on several occassions to bring cars like this to shows. I have down it two years in a row first at VetteFest and then the MCACN show as well as some local shows. Spectators love seeing cars in this state as it gives them the opportunity to see the car before it's completion and see things they might otherwise not be able to see. We have some ideas in the works for future MCACN shows to really showcase the restoration process and give potential customers and spectators alike an upclose and personal look at what goes into a restoration as well as make it interesting. Brian and Joe have also done this at several shows and were highly successful at it. This car looked great how it was displayed and always drew a crowd. I had planned on bringing the 68 Yenko in a similar state but things beyond our control kept us from doing that.

Charley, was this car sold without Yenko stripes, or were they removed? If sold with Yenko stripes, do you know if the pin stripes were removed by Yenko before applying the Yenko stripes? I suspect that Don would not want to go through the hassle of removing the pin stripes, but just curious what you have determined.

The Late Dave Miner's Z16's.

The best and first display I remember with cars in various stages of restoration at a major show.

I like seeing this type of display and applaud those who make the extra effort to move these non running cars around to be shown.

Concerning that famous radioactive site photo, there's 2, maybe even 3 cars that really look Black. Now, I know that they're probably Fathom Green but man......they really look dark! On another note, I'm really jonesin' for that Daytona Yellow/Black Vinyl Top/ Endura Bumper car!

Dick bought the car used as a repo and the Yenko Stripes had been removed. They were still in the door jamb area though. You can see in the pic that the pin stripes were still on it so yes it had both Yenko stripes and the pin stripes. It still had the bowtie emblem in the grill also.

Thanks, Charley.

Are there other known examples where the bowtie grill emblem was not removed?

Charley, is it safe to say that all X11 Yenko had pinstripe? Any Idea how many were X11?

camaromb 11-28-2010 09:36 PM

Re: Who Wants To Buy The Yenko Dealership??

There are at least 8 X11 built Yenko Camaros known of the dozen or so 02D and 03B built X11 Yenko Camaros. There are 4 know hugger orange X11 built Yenko Camaros, all but Charlie's car have black vinyl tops. One of the other orange cars was also at the MACN show, It is Ed Montini's 02D built X11 Yenko sold at Gates in Indiana. All the cars had the style trim pin stripes from the factory. Its not likely that any of the pin stripes were removed by Yenko before they were sold.
