Corvettes at Carlisle photos
Hi Guys,
Everyone knows what a shiny, restored, cookie cutter Corvette looks like, everyone appreciates them too. This is a post of those not-so-lusterous Corvettes that might be lacking in looks but compensate plenty with character. Had a blast meeting with members here, friends, new acquaintances, etc. Did more parts hunting than picture taking - only took 40 pictures and these were worth sharing. Enjoy the photos. I wish I did Bud. Owner was fishing for value. I offered $40k but he said he needed more $. Apparently it came out of hibernation just a month back. Its cool as heck but its still a '68. |

I know the owner and told me he has paperwork from yenko and was built at yenko. He just purchased the car within a month , I never had the time to look at the car

The 435hp car had solid paperwork from Yenko and was dealer modified at Yenko with the wheels, exhaust, and hood. Extremely nice survivor quality car. He was accepting offers.

I find that amazing considering he never said a word of Yenko. This is news to me. I don't think it adds much value to the car though. Its still a day-2 '68 435 that cannot be shown in its current condition. Unless Yenko modified the car and he has paper proving that, a window sticker and/or P-o-P stating the Yenko origination is down right cool but doesn't bump the car up to '69 435 value.

He had a glass covered poster board next to the car with solid yenko docs, build sheet, etc. I would hope anyone that saw the car would have checked out the docs 6 foot tall next to the car. Paperwork for the car being sold at Yenko and for the work that was done. |

That Silver Day 2 '64 Corvette is the one that was just recently on E-Bay with a dual-quad 409 engine in it. I thought it was pretty cool but it's apparent someone just bought it for the motor and put the 327 back in it.

I guess everyone's entitled to their opinions but I would like to think the fact the car was sold and modified by Yenko might add a just a wee bit of value... |

Total oversight! I'm just surprised he never mentioned Yenko. YEAH DAN....REALLY. Here's the ad ad from back in May since you seem to need everyone to prove things to you lately:
This is not your daddy's Corvette- This is what your daddy's corvette always wanted to be- outfitted with a 425hp 409! This car has been sitting in a building since 1972. Originally out of VA. Car originally started out as a saddle exterior, white convertible top. Top is original, but has been down for many years. Car comes with hard top as well. Car was originally a 327/365 4-speed. Car has a 410 posi traction rear. Has original spare tire carrier and lock with 15" wheel. Body has all original panels, except for hood. Wheel wells have minor flaring. Front turn signals have been relocated in grill. Front fender cove is missing the center spear. Rear lower body panel has been molded to quarter panels. Head lights are complete, just need motors installed. Interior still in good shape. Gauges have good color. High HP tack. 80PSI oil gauge. Car originally was radio delete. Dash pads and console are in very good condition. Believe front seats were replaced years ago, not corvette seats, but fit the car well. Car currently has a '64 409 425HP QB coated engine. 690 heads. Factory cast iron headers. Motor was rebuilt and has low miles. Muncie M-20 4-speed. Hurst shifter. Newer 2 1/2 inch exahaust. New master cylinder and wheel cylinders installed, rest of brakes are original. Car was taged over the winter, only driven a couple times. Still needs a few odds and ends done. But driving the car with a 409 in a lighter corvette, really sets you back. New owner will have a choice of one set of wheels: 5 spoke with bias ply tires, or tork thrust D's with radial tires, or rally wheels. Also included in this sale is believed to be the original engine 327/365. Engine needs rebuilt, but includes intake, distributor, 202 heads, complete short block, oil pan. |

Cool cars!.
GM built at least one engineering W-motor 'Vette and regardless of often reported statements to the contrary believe it was a Duntov project?. I think it was a roadster and in the pics I recall the cowl/rear of front fender area was modified for some reason...maybe a '62 w/ a '63 nose on it and widths didn't line up or something like that??? The pics I had saved are long lost a few computers ago but Verne didn't I send you a pic of this car years ago?. If you recall we were talking about the W-'Vette and you commented how the W-exhaust manifolds exited exactly as the SB did...same Y-pipe?. [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/beers.gif[/img] ~ Pete |
