1969 Nova SS 396-375
After knowing of this car and owner for 30 yrs, and yes he is the original owner, I may be able to pry this car from him. It is the REAL DEAL with all doc's including bill of sale first registration BORN WITH drivetrain 12,000 ORIGINAL miles, white paint, black bucket seat interior TH400, 3:55 posi., original everything. Bought new from Funston Chevrolet in Detroit (now closed). Most original Nova I have ever seen....heck the silver trim on the steering wheel shroud is perfect....still smells new inside! Trying to determine a value/price....even in this economy.....Thanks

Sounds like a great opportunity Jim. Nova gurus will chime in shortly. Good luck!

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
I'll throw out a figure. $60,000.

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
$60K would be a good place to buy it..If I was selling it..I'd want a biiiiiit more.
|
Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
I'd pay $60K and I don't know nuttin' 'bout Novas

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
Don't know Nova prices but I do know Vettes. And if this were a solid lifter big block vette the original condition (as long as it was taken care of properly) would easily add 50-100% of what a restored #1 car would go for.
So if a #1 69 nova is worth 60 then it would be worth 90-120 (if novas follow the same rule as vettes) hope this helps. Rich |
Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
I'm thinkin' more like $75K.
|
Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
Hagerty values a #1 69 nova at 25,000 plus 45% for the L78, takes it to less than $40,000. I realize there are other things that add some value, but in todays market, I think $60,000 is a plenty. NADA is in the same ballpark as Hagerty on this one.

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
As everybody knows, very nice survivor cars usually go off the assumed scale of pricing. Orig White car (fairly rare with a Nova), L78, purchasing from Orig owner, 12k miles, tons of docs. This type of car (regardless of L78) gets more discerning buyers interested (ie: willing to pay more $$) I would go at least north of $75k if it is as described.

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
Yeah - needs to be the right buyer. A low mile car like that could do a shot. If it was mine, I'd want to paint it....then fix everything that wasn't perfect.....then body off. It definitely is worth a lot to someone who can leave it original.

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
For me this type of car is a gold mine of information. However it may not mean much to others. Worth is in the eye of the beholder. Sully is right about going off the scale. Originals tend to do that.
In the end it depends on what you are going to do with it. If you tend to be like Bergy, you could end up hurting the value of the car if it gets fluffed or restored. It is only original once and that adds to the mystique and hence the value/price. If you do get let let me know. I'd love to document it with my camera for the project database. Greg |
Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
A little more info...he has the salesman's card, a guy named "LiL Joe Clark",specialized in muscle cars at that dealership....known as "LiL Joe Clarks Pit Stop"....kinda cool history....undercarriage of this car is spotless...(literaly clean it with detail spray), interior trim is absolutley perfect, right down to the poor fit of the carpet from the factory, (trimed short around console and kick panel), no cracks in dash pad, no scratched glass....etc. Has a few minor mods....gauges, headers, but has the original manifolds, and possibly the original exhaust stored away...has the protecto plate. Every original body panel,NO RUST-NOWHERE! I last rode in this car in 1981....always stored in dry area....probably has not seen the road in 20 yrs......but he does maintain it and ocassionally start it....believe me this thing fires right up and sounds like day one....awsome....this one will be a tough buy!

Nice job Jan. Its a wonder what you can do with some software manipulation. I've been getting into experimenting with it a bit these days.
THis Nova sure has the right look... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...Funston002.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...nston002-2.jpg |
Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
I agree on 75+ They are only original once, then god only knows what happens to them when they get restored. I find new things on my survivor L78 car all the time, its amazing.

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
Boy I would like to get my hands on some of those Funston Chevy Old signs...
Does anybody know how many code 10 white colored 1970 L78 Novas were made??? I own one and have been unable to find that kind of info.. Somebody just the other day at a car show was asking me how many of that color combo were built.. This fella who asked me was a mechanic at Ed Stinn Chevrolet during the musclecar "hey day" and he told me that he didn't recall ever seeing any in the lot, either L78 or small block SS cars.. He had lots of interesting stories about the 69 COPO Camaro Cars that Stinn ordered. He said he remembered 10 of them lined up in front of the building when they arrived in 69.. He said he is "kicking himself" that he never took any pictures of them... Rich |
Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
It would be nice if they had records of paint combo's. Anyone else ever see a burnished brown with black top L78 nova before?

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
One of my friends paid $57.5 for this car,
http://www.silverauctions.com/auctio...mp;lotid=21855 Personally, I think he overpaid with it having a CE block. |
Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
I think it's an awesome car personally, but I think the market will show that the Automatic Transmission and color hurts it slightly. I'm at $50K. Make it a Black/4-Speed car and watch how much higher it would go.

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
I believe this was restored by Fred K. from Phx last year. I have seen the car (almost completed) and Fred does very nice work. Car is killer.

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
If it's Fred's work...it's awesome!

Re: 1969 Nova SS 396-375
Did I misunderstand the initial post - I thought the car was unrestored?

A car like this is the one to have just like Rob's brown car. $75,000 is survivor L78 camaro money it seems lately. I don't even think the 69 Z's in survivor status bring 75 and up. I think at 55 and some change the buyer and seller should be happy. Don't EVER restore it IMO!
