Wow, nice car.

Re: Very nice '69 Z/28 for sale on eBay
Wow - what's really impressive is they left it a flat hood!

Every Camaro that comes out of a barn is a COPO and every Z28 has a raised hood.

I could not open the atachment but does it have a clock or fuel gauge in the center of the dash?

Re: Very nice '69 Z/28 for sale on eBay
Someone beat me to the punch on the flat hood.
When they were built it was pretty rare to have a cowl hood. Now its rare to see one with a flat hood. Funny huh! Nice looking car!! |

Re: Very nice '69 Z/28 for sale on eBay
Was the in-dash fuel guage availabile that early in the model year?

No.

Re: Very nice '69 Z/28 for sale on eBay
William could you please elaborate? What did super early Z28 buyers get for a fuel gauge if they didn't order a console? I know the early cars received 7K tachs, but that would still bump the fuel gauge. I've seen this car in person, and adding a center fuel gauge seems an odd choice given its known history.

Re: Very nice '69 Z/28 for sale on eBay
With a BDY # of 132938 this Z/28 was ordered on or about August 12, 1968. The U16 tachometer option did not exist at that time. It is not listed on any of the initial ordering info.
U16 debuts on the 2nd rev of the 1969 Camaro Dealer Order form dated 12-68 and appears in the Jan 2, 1969 dealer ordering info. At that time a tach became a mandatory Z/28 option and U16 saved nearly $100 over having to order U17 and a console. For all of '67, '68 and early '69 a Z/28 could be ordered without any instrumentation and many were. The car would have been built with the standard instrument cluster. |
Re: Very nice '69 Z/28 for sale on eBay
When U16 tach was ordered it included the small center fuel gage. The tach eventually became required and was included in Z28.
To my knowledge that is the only way the small fuel gage was used. |

You forgot spoilers. All First-Gens had spoilers. |

Re: Very nice '69 Z/28 for sale on eBay
I have seen cars built later than that without a tach. I have also seen a few June Z/28s with 6/7 tachs.
Likely a supply problem; Central Office may have waived the req on cars built for dealer stock. |
Re: Very nice '69 Z/28 for sale on eBay
wow, I have never seen numbers in a trunk floor before. Is that the norm? I now want to go check my car, if they are there. Never noticed any, never looked hard either.
very cool car. With all that red, I wonder how cool it would look with redlines....(besides great). |
