2010 Fred Gibb Camaro prototype II
This is the story of the number II prototype Fred Gibb Edition 5th Generation Camaro.
Number I was built (still a work in progress and yes we have your chrome wheels)for Nancy Gibb and features a Black on Gold theme, just like the original prototype. Number II has been commissioned by Bob & Nancy Lionberger. For those who don't know, Bob is the Gibb's former son in law. He and wife Nancy are not only family to Helen and Nancy Gibb, but they have been part of the sYc family for a long time. They have been involved with our hobby for years and Bob's roots go back to when he was a young boy and Fred Gibb took him to his very first Drag Race! Bob went on to work for Fred and became very close to him and the rest of the family. If your ever wanting to hear some cool and interesting stories about Fred Gibb, then you need to pin Bob down for awhile. We had been working on ideas for the New Fred Gibb Camaros and we thank the sYc/Tom Clary, as well as other individual members who helped us put it all together, especially Helen and Nancy Gibb. We introduced our concept via the professional renderings drawn for us by noted artist, John McBride. The concept was introduced at the Fred Gibb Memorial Car show, in La Harpe Il this past August of 2009. Helen was asked for her approval before we unveiled the renderings to the public. We were on pins and needles hoping to meet with her approval. We decided to use GMs Red Jewel tint coat color as which seemed to be very reminicent of the Fred Gibb Candy Apple Red painted, vintage race cars. We also used the gold striping, as this is also another styling que used by Gibb, back in the day. It also seems that Fred favored chrome 5 spoke mag style wheels, so we incorporated those too. Here are the renderings of the new Fred Gibb Camaros. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...S_FINALsm1.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...GLD_STRPsm.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79..._REDwGOLDs.jpg |

Re: 2010 Fred Gibb Camaro prototype II
Bob approached us at the Gibb show and said that he wanted us to build a New Fred Gibb Camaro.
He, his wife and Nancy Gibb made several visits to our shop in St. Charles, in order to layout the game plan for Prototype I, as well as Prototype II. While Nancy already had her Black Camaro, Bob ordered his through one of our Network dealers (they got him a great deal) and we then had GM drop ship the Camaro to our local courtesy dealer. The car is here at Nickey Chicago and we started the conversion process by adding Chrome Wheels to the car. Stay tuned for more updates as we progress. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...totype2002.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...totype2015.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...totype2016.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...totype2013.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...totype2017.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...totype2020.jpg |

Re: 2010 Fred Gibb Camaro prototype II
Bob and all the family have been through a lot...nice to see him having some fun and enjoying life. Karen and I wish him and Nancy lots of happy and "healthy" miles in their new ride.
Light 'em up Bob....but, don't let Nancy G. get behind the wheel https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif wilma and karen https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: 2010 Fred Gibb Camaro prototype II
Finally, the planets are aligning as they should! Nancy Gibb in #1 and the Lionbergers in #2. Can't think of ANYONE more deserving! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif
Nice work Mr. Bimbi. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Looking forward to the progress pix. |
Re: 2010 Fred Gibb Camaro prototype II
It is truly an honor to be part of this project and work with all those involved.
Thanks once again to everyone who helped us in any way with getting this project rolling. I need my Fred Gibb fix on a regular basis! I can't wait to see #1 & #2 parked next to each other at the Gibb Show in August. This thread is about number II PT, however the First production Fred Gibb 427 Camaro is in the shop and under construction as well. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif Anyone wanting a special order paint such as Lemans blue or Hugger Orange needs to provide some additional lead time as the Super Car Workshop crew is very busy. |

Bob and Nancy stopped by the shop yesterday. Talk about a couple of excited kids! I don't think they can wait very long for this new addition and I had to remind Bob that it is still winter outside........Beautiful car.
With any luck we will get Bob and Nancy with their Gibb Camaro as well as Nancy and Helen and their car to the shop open house/show on June 5th. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |

Thanks.
We're moving in the right direction. Chrome American Racing Torque Thrusts on stock rubber. Detroit Speed and engineering lowering coils and sway bars. Custom Red/Insert leather interior, mostly done. Stage II 600fwhp mods are next. |
Re: 2010 Fred Gibb Camaro prototype II
Like I said at the shop...those wheels are "IT!"

Re: 2010 Fred Gibb Camaro prototype II
Stef: love to see those *hard part* pictures...care to break down what all we're looking at, specifically the heads?
|
Re: 2010 Fred Gibb Camaro prototype II
RE the heads: Those are the LS3 take off heads from Bob's Gibb Camaro. 2.20 Intake and 1.60 exhaust. They flow very well as stock and extremely well once we are done with the special multi angle valve job and CNC porting as well as chamber work and CCing.
We include new higher rate springs and titanium retainers. While every part is upgradeable we have not found it necessary for our 600hp Stage II engines. You will notice the carbon build up on a very low miles Camaro....that is from GM venting the crank case right back into the Intake.......most of the intakes we take appart are soaked with oil, but we have a fix for that too. [img:center]http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...Cdheads009.jpg[/img] [img:center]http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...Cdheads010.jpg[/img] [img:center]http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a79...Cdheads019.jpg[/img] |
Re: 2010 Fred Gibb Camaro prototype II
More pics. We put a "big" Nickey Cam in, it was so big that I had to use a 12 pound sledge hammer to get it in. Good thing the aluminum block has a bit of flex to it.
