Sweet little '54 Austin Healy Model 104 fresh out of restoration https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif . She has a retractable windscreen. It was touted as capable of reaching 100 mph - but the windscreen had to be retracted https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif !!! You may recognize the owner. He is known to lurk about this here website! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

He was picking up restoration parts before he ships it to his home in Hawaii ... Re: Pavillions: 30 Jan 2010
Damn lurkers and their foreign jobs...what has the world come to? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
Great pics, Sam. Oh, I think I hampered your vintage sports car tutorial- it is a 100/4, which sounds like 104 but that's more like a thermometer reading in Phoenix https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Technically, it is a Healey One Hundred, and badged as a "100/4" ie 100 MPH+/ 4 Cylinders. This one has the 100M LeMans kit (ram air, big carbs on alloy intakes, big cam, "high" compression 8.6:1 pistons, special exhaust, special distributor), so I think she'll do 107-112 MPH given enough road...if I duck below the windscreen https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif Sorry we missed you too, Bruce- and sorry I missed Dale with the Cord in the photos- I love that car, been on a few rallies with it and he cruises at 100MPH in that thing! Front wheel drive, pre-selector vacuum shifted trans, very cool pre-war technology. Bruce, don't skip next week. My folks are coming out for a visit (first ever) and we are going to drag them over there. Should be interesting. Colin |

Re: Pavillions: 30 Jan 2010
Yeah, well maybe I got a detail or two mixed up https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif but I do remember that the 8 cylinder version of this car can do 200 mph - aviators goggles recommended! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Pavillions: 30 Jan 2010
You're both right. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
It's a 72 with 73 grills. It has the original 72 radiator support and fenders still, so he's real lucky. Those are some really hard parts to find. |
Re: Pavillions: 30 Jan 2010
FYI, 72 was the 1st year of the larger egg crate grille, same as the Camaros ...
"Spotter's Guide 1972 Firebird 1972 was a very dark year for the Firebird. General Motors considered dropping the Firebird line all together. Sky high insurance rates for high performance cars and the government's crackdown on such vehicles gave GM even more reason to consider such an option. Because of GM's uncertainty on the Firebird, there were very few technical or visual changes. On the Outside there were only a few changes. Most noticeable was the new stretched honeycomb grill, which matched the Honeycomb wheels." quoted from: http://www.pontiacpower.net/spot72fb.html Same for the Camaro: "1972 Spotters Guide and New Features Chevy continued to refine the Camaro but due to a 174 day strike beginning on April 7, no cars left Norwood Ohio, which was the only plant producing the F-body. When the strike ended, 1100 partially completed cars were scrapped or donated to vocational schools since it would be too expensive to modify them to conform to stricker '73 bumper & emission regulations. It is estimated that 39,000 camaros and firebirds weren't built, worth an estimated $125 Million to dealers .... and the '72's got: Coarser grille mesh ..." quoted from: http://www.nastyz28.com/camaro/camaro72.php the entire car is original (including the grilles), the bumper fits perfectly, just has weather issues He IS looking for an original front lower valance though ... |

Great pictures Sam. Makes me want to head down to the airport and hop on one of the flights that runs from Rockford to Mesa - about tired of the snow and cold here already.
