Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational
what a great show,i just finished watching it and it has been one of the best shows ive seen in quite awhile.
nice to see that a kick ass true 1966 cobra took home the best car in the event. the old school cars with todays technoligy is the way to go. that nissan really blew its parts away on the track https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif cant wait to see the cars next year. Charlie was there with his 69 camaro, cant remember what it was called "bad ass" or something like that. great show. if you guys missed it this morning, watch it tomorrow at 4 pm,this is a show you will not want to miss, supercars at there best. |
Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational
Charley, that'd be 'Jackass'...
...no, I mean the car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...arleySucks.gif |
Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational
What they don't tell you is that the guy driving the Cobra is a National Autocross Champion that owned a chain of driving schools. That car kicked everyone's ass. I think it was making 810 hp at the rear wheels. I think my Camaro got up to about 130 on the back straight. I think the Cobra was hitting about 160. The Cobra owner bought it new in 66, pretty cool that he still has it. Kind of the Ken Barnhart of Cobras...

Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational
Charley, love the LS9 powered car, very awesome and congrats on the road course part of the challenge. My only question is, was the guy driving Detroit Speeds 69 camaro a professional driver, because I know their car does not have as much power as yours, because most of the time Kyle or Stacy Tucker drive it, and I have seen Ryan drive it at a couple of Goodguys shows.

Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational
that WAS a GREAT show yesterday... didn't even know it was on, just stumbled on it..
|
Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational
Yes Ryan Mathews now works for Detroit Speed is a professional driver. We call him "Ringer".

Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational
I'm pretty sure Stielow would have had the faster time if his seatbelt wouldn't have come off. He did the timed laps with one hand while trying to hold himself in the seat by holding onto the gear shift. Here is the video. Notice the one handed driving. At the end he hold up the unlaced belt. in car video

Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational
Not taking anything away from DSE, they build great stuff and I am about 10 mins from their shop, but I just figured that "jackass" with carbon brakes and more HP, and equal suspension, would have run with or better than the DSE car. I don't think anything or anyone could run with that cobra, that is a awesome car, "jackass" is an awesome car too!

Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational
I am wondering how you are ever going to top that car. Then again, I think I said that about the Mule. The coolest!

Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational

Re: Ultimate Streetcar Invitational
That was pretty cool to watch. Charley and Jackass got some good air time...
