Barrett Jackson Prices
Is it me or does it appear that the Barrett Jackson prices are really low for the current auction? On the Chevy side a few (what appeared to be) really nice cars have gone for stolen prices. I mean an LS6 Chevelle for $44k, a JL8 Cross Ram (non-original) in the $60's ?? It looks like the cars are all being sold at great prices.
|
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
The cars always look much better on the screens, then in person.
That $44K LS-6 did not have the original born with engine, and had alot of incorrect details as well as many new world modifications from stock. $44K seems very fair today, after seeing/hearing what it actually was and also getting that number this early in the auction too, seems remarkable for the seller to me. A more correct, detailed, dialed in w/orig. engine one will bring twice as much money,if not more. |
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
I could see some of the modifications to the car - very easy to remove and return to stock. The NOM engine is not that big of a deal if you can find a CE LS6 to replace it.
I thought that the price of that car should have been at least $20k higher. I dont think I would ever let BJ sell any of my cars as they do all at no reserve and could care less about anything but getting the buyer and seller premiums. |
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
Was the LS6 a real LS6 car? Did it have some paperwork?
I don't know, just asking. If there is no paperwork and a replacement motor, than I think the questions justify the price. |
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
Yeah if you call that a build sheet with the top right hand corner of the sheet missing, where the vin # should be located. Too much wrong with that car for my taste. So i think at 44k you just bought a 70 Chevelle ?. Just my .02 cents.

Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
What's the story on the xram JL8 and Daytona Yellow RS Z/28s? Prices seem low.

Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
i thought that beautifully restored 1973 SD Trans Am sold week at $50k. dont they get more?
i think more news of the over all picture of BJ should come at the end of the weekend. i am predicting lower prices than average but then again it is only Tuesday/Wednesday https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |

That was just a plain T/A I went to look at that car 5 months ago in NJ. Its a very nice carBut I think 50k was all the wood in the shed! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gifI think prices are up. Every car that was nice did good money.Same guy sold the 71 charger for 57K. |
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
I have never been to the auction, so I am not speaking from experience, but it seems that every year people at home think the Tuesday through Thursday cars are going cheap and the people that are actually at the auction say the cars are not as nice in person as they appear on TV.
Like someone said earlier, there is a reason these cars are selling during the beginning of the week. They are usually of average quality or questionable background. That doesn't mean they are junk, just that they don't bring the money that the Friday-Saturday cars do. |
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
Any car can have shiney paint, chrome, and glass and look flashy under lights. Most of the early cars are of average quality therefore only fetching average money. I would personally have to look at any high dollar car i was thinking about buying.

Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
What was the deal with the 67 (I think) Nova that sold for $137? Not sure if I am 100% correct on the year... I was watching it on Speed and I was 1/2 asleep!

Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
It is very hard to make judgments on price given the first two days of auction are always cheap restos, wrong motors and few top-notch cars. Buyer beware!

Either prices are down ,or it's critical to have your lot on fri/sat. Seems like people save their dry powder for the choice stuff when everyone's in town-and pass on the early one's if the price isn't right. Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
Wasn't there an Orange 67 L-79 at an auction about 5 years ago by Huff or Huffy outside of Galesburg IL?

Re: Barrett Jackson Prices

Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
Jack Duer has an an absolutely beautiful, restored 67 L79 Nova (1 of 6 made that year I believe) done with 100% NOS parts. His car would easily pull that kind of $$ IMHO. On the cover of NNN Times recently, was at MCN's this past Nov 09. Gorgeous car
|
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
What of the newly restored, unknown car, with alledged born with parts(possibly restamped), and alledged born with docs(docs from the Canadian paper factory?).
I cant call out seller/dealer for fear of lible charges. How does one do their homework on these situations. Remember last year when someone bought the #27 (recreation) ZL-1 for $290K......... |
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
'69 L-35 RS Camaro for 100K? What am I not understanding on that one? Seems like awfully big money.

Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
There was yellow 67 Chevelle L78 car that went for less than 70k....they only made 600 of those cars!! Don't know if it was real...but, if it was the price seems way off for that kind of car.

So there must have been two guys who had hot baby sitters back in the day that drove a black 275hp Nova and for the sake of the memory went at it to the tune of 137K + commish because I don't get that car for those kind of dollars. But I think it is great . The 69 RS Z X33 car with a tattered build sheet ? Anyone know of a 69 Norwood car with a build sheet that wasn't requested by the buyer..it looked like a tank sheet off a Van Nuys car.. brought at 100k . Wonder if it was real. I liked the numbers matching 70 Camaro RS/SS 396/375 car for 62k |
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
Who can verify the 70 L-78 Camaro, or knows any history on the car......Remember what dealer sold the car. Same one that sold 71' "low milage" NOM Z-28 with 72 grill in 2008.

I like when a car stalls on the block and you get that mysterious phone bidder who bids once and then stops when a bidder on the floor takes it.

I was at Russo when the tents went down; agree that the first day is an odd blend of resto mods mixed with nice ones here and there. Things seemed rather bleek the first day...even before the tents went down.

Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
$202K for a '70 442 W-30 'vert was fairly impressive. Think they said it was #2 of the show (non-charity auctions).

Got there after that one...seems a healthy price!

how about the new 5.0 Mustang Daytona pace car grabbing $300k.. wow [/ QUOTE ] ya but that car was for charity, every dollar over MSRP went to charity. Charity cars arent real market cars. "top seller of the day" seems to be a charity car all the time but they would not even get a quarter of that if it wasnt a charity car. that yellow dragster for charity got $400K,if a charity was not involved maybe it would get $50K |
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
all I can say is it's not what it use to be. I would not sell a car in todays market
|
Re: Barrett Jackson Prices
IMO, a lot of the B-J cars were High, based on condition. I also attended the RM, Silver and Gooding Auctions.
Gooding is a First rate operation. Sold a '56 Jag race car 3.7 Mill, ect. However, I thought the Muscle cars there were low. 1969 COPO Camaro $140k 1968 GT500KR 4 speed Convertible $105k . But I really don't know the market for those cars. DL |
