1972 Chevelle SS Conv Big Block

Hello to all,

My father and I are about to put up for sale one of our muscle cars. It is an orig 1972 SS Convertible big block car with TH400. The car is blue with a white top and white interior, along with cowl induction, air, tinted glass, dlx seat belts, gauges, body side molding, door gaurds, cust rv mirror, stripes, disc power brakes, power steer, radio/tape player, bumper guards.

We were wondering if anyone has numbers on how many of this body style, engine and transmission were produced, and what the car might be worth?

Thanks for any help that you can provide,

Rick Berlage

The car has been full frame off orig restored. It did score a 987 at the chevelle nationals. The car has only been trailered. It has the correctly coded trans, and NOM that is also dated correctly to the car. The rear end is orig, and correctly dated to the car. Here are pictures of the car, as well as build sheet

Where/what are the Chevelle nationals? I thought I knew about any/all national Chevelle shows. Perhaps I missed this somwhow.

Pretty sure he's referencing the old NCOA sponsored shows held during the 1980's-90's.
I saw this car at the NCOA/Shaumburg Il. 1997-98 show back then at it was top notch.
Rick..are you Johns son?

Dan Carr's poster 'guesstimates' that 20 1972 Chevelle SS convertibles w/ 402, T400, and Cowl Induction were produced. Even if that's off by a factor of 3 or 4, it's still a rare bird.

That original Build Sheet is pretty interesting to me. I use to work extremely close to the delivery address on the sheet and don't ever recall anything like a car dealership at that particular address in Maryland Heights, MO. It's the main road of a large industrial court on the West side of St. Louis. Maybe it was the GMAC Finance office or something. Any St. Louis people here have a clue about the delivery address on this Build Sheet?

Re: 1972 Chevelle SS Conv Big Block

It shows the Delivery address to "Chevrolet Motor Div GMC", 83 Progress Parkway, Maryland Heights, MO. My father worked almost directly across the street at the Coca-Cola plant in 1972 and doesn't recall any kind of car dealership there. Just really curious. By the way, great car and the end of an era. I've always wondered if there was a rush to the dealerships in late 1972 to purchase whatever '72's were still left when the ugly, new '73's were introduced to the public?!

. . . but it's still an estimate, so the rarity can't be determined.

I'm reasonably sure that this car was possibly delivered to somewhere besides a new car dealership and was possibly intended for an executive to drive or maybe even a dealer show car or something. It's something certain;y worth investigating.

I have been wondering the same thing after recently inspecting the build sheet and comparing it to others I have. In the lower left corner the name "JB MILTON" appears, any idea on a J Milton from the Florissant area?
