Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo
Hey,
I could use more help with a high-res photo. I'm looking for an image of a first gen Z28 Camaro cowl with the stripe color on the top of the cowl. Thanks to Super Car Workshop and Arone Auto Body, I already have one image of a Z11 with the smaller cowl paint around the cowl openings. The image I need is of a Z10, Z11, or Z28 cowl the the stripe color all the way across the cowl...from the pinchweld on the left tulip panel to the pinchweld on the right tulip panel. Can anyone help me? It needs to be high-res...at least 2MB and approx 2560x1920. If you don't have a good shot all the way across, maybe just a close-up of the pinchweld on one side will work. Thanks, Tony Huntimer Camaro Performers Magazine |
Re: Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo
Norwood didn't paint Z11's (or Z28's) like that, they had a smaller mask that extended about 2" outside the cutouts into the wiper well. Los Angeles built cars had the cowl paint that extended pinchweld to pinchweld, so you'll need a picture from an LA built car.

Re: Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo

Re: Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo
Glad to see that picture of the 67 LOS Z28 cowl paint. That is how my LOS 68 Z was before restoration. Problem is every time I say that is the way mine was I seem to be corrected by people that never seen the area before restoration. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo
that is the original paint under the black paint that was applied by one of the owners.you can see where the red paint is also under the black paint.the other side is the same.I would guess they used some sort of stencile just to lay over the edge and did a qiuck white spray paint on the top. This is a white stripe car also with bolero red paint RR code.

Here's how my (mostly) original paint red '67 Z-28 looked on the top of the firewall. This car was built 05A at the LOS plant.

Here how my gold NOR-built '67 Z-28 was masked off on the top of the cowl.

Re: Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo
Sure looks to me like they were masked off as my 68 Z was.

Re: Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo
i have an 05A norwood car, and the top of the cowl was white to match the stripes.

Re: Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo
Out of all the people involved here, does anyone have an image of the wider cowl paint that's at least 1.6MB in size that they're willing to have printed in a book along with their name? The images Dave posted are great, but unfortunately too small for my picky Editor. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Re: Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo
I have an unrestored Black 69 RS/Z 04C with white cowl top in my garage right now, I will take a photo of the cowl top for you before the weekend. 8 MB photo with no flash.
Here is an older one http://inlinethumb19.webshots.com/41...425x425Q85.jpg |
Re: Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo
BTW... early norwood cars had much more overspray than the later ones.

Re: Help With a Z Cowl Paint Photo
Here are a few I shot today.
If these will work PM me for the hi res shots http://inlinethumb64.webshots.com/46...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb63.webshots.com/46...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb54.webshots.com/43...425x425Q85.jpg VIN - Was stamped after stripe paint was applied http://inlinethumb32.webshots.com/41...425x425Q85.jpg |
regarding Cowl stripe paint and dash paint...
here is a photo of the 04C black cars cowl white out... the dash paint is definitely applied after the stripe paint, you can tell the black was sprayed from inside the car from the over spray patterns.
http://inlinethumb14.webshots.com/46...425x425Q85.jpg CRG says the dashes were sprayed and masked before the color and stripe... |
