Any oppinions on this build sheet??
I was wondering if anyone could offer opinions on this sheet. The photos of the car look beautiful, I have not seen this sheet in person.

Re: Any oppinions on this build sheet??
Build sheet looks good to me but I am far from an expert. Has alot of the same codes on it as the one for my 70 Z, sure doesn't look loke it was found on top of the gas tank.

Looks like some awful crisp edges on there, as well as a suspiciously looking clean area on the bottom right of the document. No horizontal or vertical creases ?

Re: Any oppinions on this build sheet??
Well the reason I was curious was the car this belongs to is for sale. It shows a 9796 copo option on the sheet but the way it is described verbally on the sheet is different than all the other sheets which belong to other 9796 cars, the description is akin to the wording used on a window sticker for the option, but is not the way option is presented on the build sheets of the three other known cars ????

Carl, you've already described 2 strikes against it yourself -- if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck -- ? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Norwood? You are showing a Van Nuys build sheet ... |
Re: Any oppinions on this build sheet??
FWIW, aside from the questionable COPO line item I see nothing unusual with this buildsheet. Being that they are very close, I would expect that yours and this one should be pretty identical.

[/ QUOTE ] I checked it side by side with my 04A VN Z,it looks good but i'm no expert either. I always thought the COPO cars started at 06A though. FWIW those are the original plates,so good chance it's spent it's whole life in So cal. I have seen a couple hi po cars from Vern Trider-nice amount of options for a non RS Z. Bruce B. grew up by that dealer maybe he'll chime in .. If you need me to check the car out it's local- shoot me PM. |

Zone #20
Dealer #413 Vern Trider Chevrolet 215 N. Anaheim Blvd. Anaheim California 92805 (Info circa 1970) Above is NCRS info & appears to be the same address and codes as the build sheet shown.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |
Re: Any oppinions on this build sheet??
The car is very nice, and I'm sure for the most part it is a solid 70 Z, It appears that, if I understand the numbers correctly, this car was built the same day as mine. The 3 (three) 9796 builds I have seen, 2 other cars and mine ALL have hand written notes (for lack of a better term) on them giving directions, ALL notes closely resemble on another, and it could even be speculated that they are close enough where they were all written by the same person. The ebay cars sheet is different.
As far a the Z28 thing goes it is a nice car, just this one thing really bugs me. Thanks https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif Thanks for the offer Mark, I'll surely let you know if I move forward with it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: Any oppinions on this build sheet??
No problem, gives me an excuse to go check it out!
I think you are correct on a single person assigned to adding specifc documentaion on the sheets. I have have a few baltimore one's from 69-71, and all the notations were done by the same person based on writing style no question. Purely speculation, but I think this car might have been one of if not the first VN car built with the COPO spolier(05E). It has the Option circled,as to bring attention to the line workers maybe for bolt hole location?. My Bal pilot LS6 has the RPO circled, and hand written below the RPO codes and also circled was "Pilot job 454 c.i." and to the left of that" it'll need wings" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
Re: Any oppinions on this build sheet??
just an observation but the circle on the Build sheet is not smooth... like it was very intentional... most of the time when in a production setting this type of care is not taken... the circle would be smooth and probably have overlapping or non touching start and finish points... IMHO https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

Re: Any oppinions on this build sheet??
My car is 70 cars earlier by vin https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
That the issue here, my car as well as the others does not have the TYPED wording "rear compt lid extension unit" the only code shown is the 9796AA which has been circled by hand and then hand written descriptions in LARGE hand written letters. I guess it wouldn't bug me if the car was a later car but it is in-between my car and the other examples which match each other. I would be curious of your opinion if you do look at it. I will be the first to admit that I am not an expert on how build sheets were generated but I am concerned that for some reason this one is different, It would be easier for me to understand if the whole code and description were hand written (like some sort of last minute thing) but to go the other way seems odd. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif |

They are very clear and readable but like you said the penmanship shows, for lack of a better term, haste. |
Re: Any oppinions on this build sheet??
That looks like a floorpan sheet- is it possible the person who pulled it put their own circle?
