Newbies first post Triple Black 1970 LS6 M22
First off, merry christmas and happy new years to all at this holiday time and i hope to make a few new friends here.second i would like to say hello to a good friend of mine Peter known as (P.J.) on this forum,he told me about this great site. i would also like to say hi to rick who i bought the car from and carmen who are all on this site.
my name is danny and in september 2009 Peter P.J. (friend for over 25 years) told me about his friends car Rick who was thinking about selling his 1970 triple black LS6 Chevelle SS454. went to look at it and it was love at first site. thank you rick for selling the car to me as it has been a dream of mine since i was 18 years old. about the car >>> options include,Vinyl roof, black bucket seats/console,all tinted glass, door edge guards, posi with 3.31 rear,M22 trans with original complete muncie shifter and linkages,SS454,gauges,LS6,white stripes,hd battery and cowl induction. car came with build sheet that was peeled of the door panel (Atlanta built car). car came with two LS6 motors, the "Original Matching Numbers motor" which is all apart and came with everything you could imagine like...complete smog set up,carb, distributor, water pump, intake etc... nothing is missing and a lot of the parts are already rebuilt (carb and distributor is rebuilt by Jeff Dotterer with certificate),smog is all rebuilt and ready to go and a lot more stuff. thats the key motor !! the other LS6 motor running in the car is of course a "non matching motor" BUT look out >>> 4 bolt main,60 over,13.1 comp ratio, crower roller rockers, lunati cam with LS7 specs, hooker headers hooked to factory chambered GM exhaust and 650 HP dyno OUCH ! i went through this motor and it has a few goodies of its own,like...512 november 69 block,1966 3613 holley carb,840 HP head from 1968 and a 291 HP head from 1969. so when it comes time to put the original motor back the one running in the car should pay for the rebuild. car runs awsome on 115 Octane gas,it is so much fun to drive as i may keep it like this for a few years so i can beat on it and have tons of fun.when i open the hood you would never know of the beast lurking under there as factory valve covers and intake cover the internals, only the headers give a bit of the sectret away and of course the sound!!! i am currently working on the history of the car and have gone back all the way to 1983. this car even had some what of a famous owner from 1983 and earlier "John Wayne Walker" (Zip Corvette Products) which shows on my certified title history report i got from the Texas DMV. the guy that owned my car in texas had it for 16 years and i even talked to him to get great stories about the car.i am down to the last 13 years of ownership and MR.Walker owned it in that time period but i dont know how long, and the original owner from Atlanta owned it for who knows how long but hopefully i can narrow it down when i get my Virginia history report in (if they have any). update to come. i also own another 1970 Chevelle SS396 car that is for sale to make room for my LS6 car in my garage.one photo has this red car beside my black LS6,the red car is a real beauty too and any help to sell this car would be much appreciated. i will be also introducing my 1970 Challenger RT S.E. 440 six pack/4 speed/super track pack 4.10 car soon on this web site.for now i will show off my pride and joy Enjoy. i also threw in a video if you want to have a listen to the car crank it up !!! http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...hevelle098.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...hevelle086.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...hevelle082.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...hevelle083.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...hevelle012.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...hevelle109.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...hevelle081.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...hevelle094.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...hevelle051.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...llenger036.jpg |

Hello Danny congrats on your purchase. I also own an atlanta built LS-6 car and Iam tring to do some research. can you tell me what the week and build month your car is in, I am tring to do some bolt and fastener research and if your car is close to my build date,it would really help me out. if it does indeed turn out that your car and mine are close in that respect and dont mind if i pick your brain, please let me know. thanks, Geoff. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

I was told they only went on cars through April, mine is an early LA build and it has them. [/ QUOTE ] hi john,i added the trim under the headlights on my black LS6 as i like the look of them (just my preverence). my black LS6 car built on April 23 never came with them. i think the cut off date was late February when the plants stopped putting that trim under the headlights and beginning in april they stopped putting them on. also just to make everyone know clearly that the only add ons on my LS6 chevelle are only 3 things 1 >>> the head light trim(that we are talking about here) 2 >>> the cowl air cover crates (never came on my car or Chevelles) 3 >>> pedal stainless trim group these 3 items did NOT come on my car (i added them myself) just my personal preverence as i like these 3 items. hey at least my turn signal/emergency brake and high beam circles on the dash is not painted.LOL one last note >>> my red car was a february 19 built car and the head light trim came off that car to be put on to my black car. so the red one did have them but not the black. hope this clears things up https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |

Thanks! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ocs_0006_2.jpg [/ QUOTE ] your right Sam, my build sheet from the black LS6 car Atlanta built still has some cardboard attached on the back. my build sheet from the red L34 car Atlanta built still has the complete door panel cardboard as backing (you can see the guy started to peel a corner of the door panel then stopped because it was tearing the paper apart) the person that took the build sheet off decided to cut the door panel around the build sheet instead, pretty cool. both my 70's are atlanta built by only 1 month 4 days apart. whats cool is the red car has the SS door panel emblems clearly marked on the build sheet and did get SS emblems on the door panels. the black LS6 build sheet does not have SS marked anywhere for the door panels and have "malibu" door panel emblems. forgot to mention on an earlier post were i stated ad ons to my car, that i also added gm floor mats to the carpet but my car did not come with them.so i added 4 items to my car. all 4 items can be taken off within minutes though ! |

Dan
Welcome to the site. You purchased a great top of the line 70 ss. the car is a killer. I have known the car for many years and have always admired it. Rick first offered me the car, and I had to decline because I now have 3 cars and I would of had to sell one of my loved cars. I told Rick that I would tell you about the car and asked Rick not to sell the car until I talked to you. Just that moment while I was there another person was seriously looking at the car. The rest is history. I was really surprised when Rick sold the car as Rick is for sure a great person and a very dedicated car nut. I am really glad that you purchased the car because That car could of not of been sold to a more avid chevelle owner than you. I know you will always take excellent care of this rare black ls6 and make even better than it already is.
