This is an original low mileage Malibu, which was well maintained over the years then taken apart and restored.

Great options, colors and a full frame off restoration.

The interior appears mostly original as does the drivetrain.

It has what looks like the original window sticker, vintage photo and title as well as a restoration album.

Price is $45,000.00 or best offer.

Sweet! The only option...I would have ordered over the tinted glass, would have been clear glass.

Stefano....is this owner and car from Ohio?

This car needs to be at MCACN next week!

Stefano,

If this is the same owner I`m thinking about, he discussed this car me to at Barrett Jackson in 2009. He tried to sell this car before he restored it (Not at BJ)...I have pics of it before it was restored. I`m sure this is the same person...very rare to have another car like this in Ohio.

What`s your take on the a few of the guys saying that the window sticker is a fake?

Dan.

Re: 1969 Malibu 4 speed 3.31 posi 22k orig miles

Let's call it a patina'd reproduction.

It has other real docs and it was sold at BJ.

Post the pre-resto pics.

It was for sale a few times on e-bay awhile back also.

Stefano 11-16-2009 10:43 PM

Re: 1969 Malibu 4 speed 3.31 posi 22k orig miles

It is a reproduction window sticker. However, all of the other docs with the car are authentic and came from the original owner. It was sold new at Ed Stinn.

I was told by one of the guys who restored the car (Dave Perry) that it is indeed all original drivetrain and components, as well as all original sheet metal. I was also informed that even the carpet is original to the car.

The shifter is an aftermarket repro bolted up to Hurst Linkage.

Even the smog set up is to be original to the car.

This is one of those cars that looks and presents itself much better in person than in the pics.

Very neat car! Why did a 22k mile car need a resto in the first place, and why would someone spend the $$ restoring the car?

This car must have been worth more than half the current asking price prior to its restoration... and the resto must have cost more than half the current asking price? So with all due respect, what am I missing?

Missing is you....Where were you when it was for sale as an unrestored car? You should have jumped on it then! Probably too busy watching your hockey team loose to the Blackhawks!

Re: 1969 Malibu 4 speed 3.31 posi 22k orig miles

Now is a chance to own it for much less than what it would have cost to buy it and have it restored.

While it was in great shape, it had some paint touch up over the years and it was a clean up project that went a bit further than the owners had expected. You know....one thing leads to another.......

I've seen plenty of low mile cars that have been restored. It is not what I would have done but many people want new shiny looking cars and don't appreciate patina. Shiny sells at Barret-Jackson. Didn't a killer unrestored benchmark LS6 Chevelle get restored and have stripes added before it went to Barrett-Jackson ? I wonder if it brought more money.

SS427 11-17-2009 01:41 AM

Re: 1969 Malibu 4 speed 3.31 posi 22k orig miles

To my knowledge it did not get restored it only had the stripes added which in just about everyones opinion really hurt the cars value. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Unfortunately, the opportunity has passed. I would have rather owned it before it was restored... and paid $45k less what it cost to restore it.

The pebble grain on the steering wheel looks about right for the mileage, if its the original wheel(?). Did the car originally come with power brakes?

In the only picture of the brake and clutch pedals I see, they are blurry enough (they were not the focus of the picture) that I don't think I could make any kind of reasonable assessment of condition https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif They just appear to me to have some dirt on them.

I sure like the car. I am guessing this is not the same car that Scott S was selling early this year, although it appears to be similarly equipped???

A friend bought one identical to this car new from Rapids in Cedar Rapids Ia. A Malibu was way cheaper to insure than a SS 396,and a well tuned 350 was about as fast as a 325hp 396.

Andy,

My 69 SS has 27K miles and the clutch pedal pad is pretty rough. The pedal pads on this car look original and don't look too bad to me. If you think about how much a clutch pedal gets used, especially if the driver is a down-shifter; I'd say these don't look bad.

Just my $.02 worth.

They are original to this 22,000 mile car as is most of the rest of the interior.

it's not a moot point,when the price is 40k.

my brother's w-31 has 134,000 miles on it,and his original brake and clutch pedals dont look that bad.

the documentation(window sticker) has already been called fake
is that the guide you're talking about?

Stefano 11-19-2009 04:45 AM

Re: 1969 Malibu 4 speed 3.31 posi 22k orig miles

I can't believe this conversation. The interior is mostly (90%) origibnal to the car......per what the restorer told us.

I have several 4 speed cars here in the shop with original pedals, lower miles and much more wear.

markjohnson 11-19-2009 05:26 AM

Re: 1969 Malibu 4 speed 3.31 posi 22k orig miles

Everybody drives differently and I think that can easily account for vastly differently pedal wear regardless of mileage. Some people may lift their feet directly off pedals while other people may slide their feet across and then off the pedals. That method would easily account for pedal "wear". And let's not forget two-footed drivers.......I know that you're supposed to use your right foot only bouncing back and forth between the accelerator pedal and brake pedal but many people (like me!) are just hung up driving with both feet.

Bill Pritchard 11-19-2009 05:56 AM

Re: 1969 Malibu 4 speed 3.31 posi 22k orig miles

I can't believe the conversation either. I said it before, and I'll say it again...the picture showing the pedal pads does not show them clearly enough for anyone to accurately pass judgment on their condition.

442DAVE 11-19-2009 07:16 AM

Re: 1969 Malibu 4 speed 3.31 posi 22k orig miles

I can't beleve this converstion on this car. I personally did the cosmetic restoration on this car and it is a REAL 22,000 mile car. I called Stefano when I saw it listed for sale and wanted to give him the background on the car since I know the car better than anyone. If there is a serious interest by someone in this car, send me a pm with a phone# and I will be Glad to talk to you.
