1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
Have found this Z28 yesterday...
http://www.oldcars.fotki.com/1979_chev_camaro_z-28/ What do you think about it? I have no idea are the wheels are original or not... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Thanks for your help https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif |
Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
I recall seeing some local camaro with these rims many years ago. Still see the odd one for sale with these rims on them now.
|
Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
those rims were an extra cost option.

Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
I believe all the Z28's had the painted 5 spoke wheels with a trim ring. The wheels that are on the car are Camaro wheels, but were an option on the other models. I body-colored many of them, between the spokes, for dealers back then.

Thanks guys...
I have send an inquiry for VIN and Trim Tag... Looks like an interesting car i think... I like the color... |
Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
Those were available as option on 77,78 and 79 z's and in 80 the aluminum wheel option changed to a different style(n 90) if I am not mistaken.
I had a cousin had those on a 79 z28 yeras ago. |

If you're interested, most all '77 and newer F'Body Vins can be documented by GM Canada Vintage Vehicle Services regardless of where built/shipped when new..
Ask for George...he's a great guy who even frequents this little corner of cyberspace every now and then!. http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/shopping/parts/vintage https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |
Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
I think the later turbine wheels were nice, but thats just my choice. As for the color,I have always loved that color big time.A friend had one years back,it was that color, with the Z stripes on the side and had a tan interior. When they are really mint, that color combo is soooo classy looking, but doesnt make the car look grandmaish.I have seen some that were clapped out and the color combo tends to add to the clappedoutness, but when they are mint,it is a totally different story.
Another awsome color combo on those cars is black with blue Z stripes and a black or dark blue gut. Some colors just work on some cars, that brown on those cars is like citrus green on a 70 camaro,it is a color that you wouldnt normally think of that really does something when it hits those lines.I call it "beef gravy brown" because the metallic makes it look like the sparkle of oil on top of a really hot ladle of beef gravy.Buy it. |
Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
seems like a LOT for the condition of the car ....
wheels are OEM optional Z28 wheels go here for more info on 2nd gens: www.nastyz28.com Here specifically for 1979 Camaro info: http://www.nastyz28.com/camaro/camaro79.php |
Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
Now that I see the brochure on that site, I remember now. I color keyed a lot of those wheels on Camaros back then.
I'm thinking of buying a 79 Z28. It's an original owner car. He pulled the engine about 10 years ago to freshen it up, and never got past that point. It's rust free and all there and reasonably priced. Just a towing bill to get it home, re-install the engine and have a fun car to drive. |

Jim,
thanks for the links https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif What in your opinion is a "good" price for that ride? I know... nobody have seen the car and nobody knows the technical condition... |
Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28

Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
I have been looking for a late second gen Z, and for $6200, that doesn't look like much of a deal, sorry.
Do some craigslisting and I bet you find a nicer piece for a better price. |
Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
Jochen,
I was also looking for a 1979-1981 Z-28. It was the second car I owned back in 1981. I was a senior in high school and I traded my VW Rabbit for a slightly used 1980 Camaro Z-28, dark blue with baby blue stripes, cowl hood (functional), with dark blue interior. I had GT qualifiers (tires) all around, and a nice stereo, tape player, amp, and 6x9's. My girl friends could hear me coming down the road https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif Man, I miss that car. Only car I really wish I would have kept all these years. I like that style / generation of Camaro's. Keep your eyes open, there are some nice ones out there! Oh, if anyone here in the states see one like I had be sure to let me know! |
Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
I went to look at a 64 Impala 4 dr hdtp... black over black 2 owner with looks to be 14 k miles, parked since 1984. Will post pictures tomorrow... and a necked out 69 Camaro parked in 1988 on Sunday and on the way passed a 78 Z brown over tan with original paint etc and the 5 spoke painted wheels. looked to be complete but needs a resto... they are out there!

Re: 1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z-28
If you really like these year cars and want to import one from North America (also spend more $) check this link about a 15,000 KM (9500 Mile) original '79 Z28 auto, non-T-Top, w/ original tires, original paint etc in BC Canada that hasn't been put on the market yet but soon will be..
