1970 #854 CKO L-78 402 block
4-bolt main. A 30 70 dated. Was originally from a Camaro. Has been decked. There are NO VIN's on the block. Just came from machine shop where it was vatted, magged, pressure tested, and had 1 sleeve installed. No cracks, STD. bore, no stripped threads. Ready to be machined for your pistons. Will easily go .030 . All maincaps and bolts are there. Pics. up soon.
$1800 |

Rick, Are you familair with 70' L-78 Camaro Frost Green, that is/was in the S.W. at one time. Don Stowers restored it for Seattle dealer quite a few years ago.

Not familiar with that car Chuck.

Re: 1970 #854 CKO L-78 402 block
I think you meant to say citrus green Chuck.
|
Re: 1970 #854 CKO L-78 402 block
Darren, I meant to say the seldom seen GREEN MIST, but now I dont remember and it may have been Citrus.
Car had LOW miles. Stowers knows the story, but not worth even asking him at this point. |
Re: 1970 #854 CKO L-78 402 block
I thought Don's car was Citrus. Maybe I'm wrong.

Re: 1970 #854 CKO L-78 402 block
This block would also work for a 70 L-78 M/T Nova produced in or after April, but to late for any 1970 L-78 Chevelle.

[/ QUOTE ] Rick, just curious about your comment on the casting date relative to the build date of the car....why would it have to be an April car with a January cast block..?? Thanks, tw |
Re: 1970 #854 CKO L-78 402 block
Tonawanda shows they assembled it during April of 70 is why.

Re: 1970 #854 CKO L-78 402 block

Re: 1970 #854 CKO L-78 402 block
Look at Ricks last pic in that string of photos he posted.
On the pad you can make out T04... |
Re: 1970 #854 CKO L-78 402 block
If you have questions, feel free to ask me.
Yes the block is decked. However, as shown in the photo, you can still make out the date code. TO40?C?O This is one of the ways that you know that it is a CKO code block. |

Re: 1970 #854 CKO L-78 402 block
My 70 L78 Nova motor is an A 30 70 cast with a 04/24 build date. I asked Wilma how many fingers I was holding up, he answered "Thursday", hence going to the Doctor
