Truppi-Kling LS6 RM Auction Results
Just heard from a friend who was at the Icons of Speed and Style Auction. T/K, Briggs Chevrolet. LS6 SS/EA Ragtop sold for $240.000. Took a million dollar loss. Wow! Jungle Jim's 69 Nova Funny Cars as a pair went for under $100K. Another huge loss.

Wow! This is gonna send ripples through the hobby. Maybe people will gain some sense finally and those that spent BIG, crazy money on rare Musclecars up to early 2008 aren't going to sleep well tonight. So much for investments! Never wanted to live in a world of million-dollar Chevelles anyway. That's insane.

Curious to see how B-J will do in Vegas next month? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Truppi-Kling LS6 RM Auction Results
IMO, the car would have done much better at a Mecum auction, where buyers understand and appreciate rare musclecars.

Re: Truppi-Kling LS6 RM Auction Results
I was the internet bidder at up 235k and thought I was going to get the car at $230k but the the other bidder bumped it at the last second.. and I couldnt get back in fast enough. I would have went to 250k but with he commission and shipping thats all I could/wanted to pay. I felt the real money on that car is around 300k to $350k today. That car was never worth anywhere near 1 Million on its best day and when it sold at Barrett in 06' I would have guessed its real value to be around 500k to 600k at the most.
Over all I thought most of the stuff did fair money especially some of the Street Rods, The Tommy Evo Wagon, and what blew my mind was the Little Red Wagon doing 500k!! I never thought that would do over $150k. I wasnt surprised at the Jungle Jim cars not alot of interest in Funny Cars that I see.. There neat to look at but at the end of the day they take up space and have no use IMO. And yes selling that stuff at Mecum at the next Spring Indy sale or holding a sale in Phoenix in January when all of the other sales were going on would have produced WAY WAY bigger numbers on alot of stuff. Re: Truppi-Kling LS6 RM Auction Results
Think the Little Red Wagon was event top sale at 500K, and one of few to beat high estimate. Teague '76 streamliner being another. Mazmanian 'Vette at 225K seemed a decent deal.

Re: Truppi-Kling LS6 RM Auction Results
Sign of the times. The prices of some of these cars had to flutter or fall sooner or later. Sucks for some, great opprotunities for others.

Re: Truppi-Kling LS6 RM Auction Results
Wasn't the original Dodge Deora show car there? What did it sell for?

I think the Ray Allen car would have been a much better resto IMO if it was done as Ray had it when he raced it in the beginning. The original "In race trim." https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: Truppi-Kling LS6 RM Auction Results
Exactly! The vinyl graphics they added at the last minute helped a little but that car has true history and should be shown as it was when it was "making history".
Who wants to see one of Grumpy's cars in showroom condition? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif |

Re: Truppi-Kling LS6 RM Auction Results
Seemed a decent deal, though. Agree a bit inconsistent w/race livery on a bone-stock car - though a few bolt-ons and it's back to as-raced. As mentioned earlier, likely not the ideal venue for that car.

Re: Truppi-Kling LS6 RM Auction Results
When it was at the BJ auction in '06 I remember seeing the bidder, buyer drinking and a girl on his lap thinking cool car over priced. Granted '06 was the height of the market IMO, but that was too much then. Was that the same year they had that GM bus of the future go for like 4 mill?

Anyone know why the seller decided to part with all of those prime cars? I know he didn't need the money. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Bashton MCACN Managing Member |

[/ QUOTE ] https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif FWIW, there were many internal engine modifications made to that LS6 engine https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif not just a few simple go fast bolt-ons that made that car what it was. I have an original 1971 article on the car, very impressive. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |

Bob, I seem to remember the owner being a hedge fund guy and we all know how those have fared lately.

[/ QUOTE ] If he really is (was) a hedge fund manager then he probably needs some of that money back now that the whole thing has collapsed. (He must not have been very good at seeing the future--something a hedge fund manager, or any money manager should need to know, ya' know?) Seeing him (or his proxy) pay those prices at B-J a few years ago without care and now seeing him basically 'dumping' everything he bought should tell you something about the stock market vs. reality. Welcome to reality! |

I REALLY JUST LIKE THE CAR, A REAL COOL LS6 CONVRT WITH REAL RACE HISTORY GREAT BUY

Re: Truppi-Kling LS6 RM Auction Results
From looking at the auction results, obviously a 'no-reserve' auction. You think this LS-6 Rag really changed hands or the fella just bought it back.
Tell you what, I'm wouldn't be taking a million dollar that quick... |
