Re: Nickey 427 Stage III Dyno Run
Stefano,
I've emailed your shop requesting information on the specifics of how you would handle an out of state order. I'd like to know any details you would require or do you only take orders from dealers in your local area? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
Re: Nickey 427 Stage III Dyno Run

Re: Nickey 427 Stage III Dyno Run
Stefano,
What's the highest you can go and still be smog compliant? Not too sure what the exact restrictions are here in Nevada, although we do have smog regulations... I really hope this doesn;t dash my plans for the FLP... Any insight would be greatly appreciated. |
Re: Nickey 427 Stage III Dyno Run
Since the smog checks are done state by state vs a federal test, it's critical to know what type of test your car will be required to pass. Without kowing the specific test you will be required to pass, I suspect engine configurations would be more conservative.
I also suspect that NA tunes will fail smog checks at hp numbers well below those of the forced induction configurations. I don't mean to thread jack here, just thowring out a bit of a reasonable man's logic. |
Re: Nickey 427 Stage III Dyno Run
Currently we only have one option (Stage II S) which is 50 states legal and has a CARB #. This is the Magnusen Supercharged LS3 with stock exhaust.
Emission compliance not only varies from State to State, but county to county. Twin Turbos are generally the "cleanest" power adders for emissions compliance. All options other than the Magnusen Stage II S are sold for off road use only. With that said, the guys at FLP have been building big HP, emissions compliant vehicles for many years. Please check the requirements for your intended application. |

Hey!! Realy cool!

Re: Nickey 427 Stage III Dyno Run
Thanks for the info everybody. I talked to Mr. Barker yesterday and we discussed some options. I am going to be very interested in what FLP can help me come up with as it appears the Stage II is my only option. Ultimately my goal here is to create the ultimate street machine; branded with Nickey and FLP, for the craftsmanship only they can provide! Plus, making it one of the first of its kind here in Vegas... I also want a car I can pass down to my son someday knowing we have had a lifetime of memories and a lot of fun in it. No price can be put on that!

Re: Nickey 427 Stage III Dyno Run
Rich...if you register the car in Nye County [Pahrump, NV], there are no emmisions requirements/regulations and Stefano can build you a street monster that can wear Nevada license/registration. For several years I owned property in Pahrump for that very reason. It's been a couple years since I had reason to register a car in Nye County, so you may want to double check smog requirements with DMV in Pahrump.

Thanks for the info SS, good to know https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Re: Nickey 427 Stage III Dyno Run
no problem, Mr Bimbi...Pahrump, NV, is only an hour drive from Las Vegas, so it's not a huge hassle to register a car over there. Thousands of people commute from Pahrump to Las Vegas every day for work.

Just another Nickey Stage III 427 with more than 700hp! https://www.youtube.com/user/WegnerMotorsports |
Re: Nickey 427 Stage III Dyno Run
Hey Stefano, I was wondering with all of the different ways you approach people's hp goals, is there a standard way you choose to rate the hp?
Specifically, from stage I to the stage ? twin turbo config are they all run on a engine dyno and then rated at crank horsepower? I am asking because on another forum I enjoy, nearly everyone who posts seems to have adopted whp ratings. Obviously the chp numbers tend to stroke our egos and I certainly like what you are doing with the cars but was hoping to get a little better understanding of the way they are being rated. I sure would love to feel the kind of acceleration one of your TT Camaros offers! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |
