1968 Z/28 Ready to Run!
It's taken about two years but my 1968 Z/28 is finally up and running. I still have some stuff to finish but it runs like a beast and it's a pretty cool (original) color combination. Ed https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

A guy from this site bought the car and changed his mind. Then, a friend of mine bought it and hasn't shipped it yet. Ed https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif |

David:
My Z/28 could have spent some time in Illinois although I purchased it with an Indiana title (stating 43,000 actual miles) from a Mustang guy in Niles, Michigan. It was a running driving car but in need of alot of love. It has it's original engine and I found the date coded smog, the correct carburetors (I've been through 3), the original spare and a bunch of other parts from members on this site. I still have to deal with the front springs and interior. The interior is all original but the driver's seat is a little worn. Still looking for a nice original piece because I know if I start recovering the seats, I'll wind up doing the entire interior. Thanks for the comments from everybody! The only gas that's been in the Z since the engine was done is 110 Octane Sunoco. It's running 11:1 pistons on the stock 1178 crank and a Crane blueprinted cam. The sound and smell of that car running have got to be overwhelming. Thanks for preserving such a neat piece of musclecar and ponycar history!

M.G.
The guy who built my engine is an old drag racer/ DANA machinist who actually holds 3 IHRA records and was an IHRA Champion running small block Chevys. And I mean small (231 cu.in.) He calls his 350 engine a big block. Anyway, it runs like a banshee even with 3.73:1 gears. He got a little disappointed in me when I put the smog and the Gardner exhaust on the car. He wanted me to install headers, add some gear, and bring it out to Bunker Hill for test and tune. I may still get there but it's going to have to run through the mufflers. By the way, his name is Tom Sroufe and he's a great guy who is retired now working out of his shop at home. He's currently building my 1966 427/425 HP engine for my Corvette. I can't wait to get that beast running! If anybody's interested in contacting Tom, drop me a line and I'll send you his number. Old School is the Best School!
