I would like to publicly say "THANK YOU" to the following people who were VERY helpful in the restoration of my 69 Camaro, without there help I am sure this resto. would have taken an additional 1-2 years. Dave McGaffe who did the restoration of Grove City Ohio, Steve Easter-paint and body, and the great guys from this site who helped with parts and technical advice, Mark Milchak, Frank Arone, Brian Potter, Mark Bulaw, Mike Angelo, Brian Henderson, Larry Christensen, Dave Roberts( The Right Stuff Detailing), Ron Norman, Dru Diesner, Henry Estheimer, Dave Finkel, Eric Johnson, Rick(Mr. 70), Gardner Exhaust. I hope I got everyone it has been 1.5 years in the making. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Re: Camaro Restoration
Doug it was my pleasure helping you with this car and I also wanted to thank you for allowing me to be part of this resto. I hope the car scores well for all the long nights on the phone, beating all the bushes, the last minute replacement parts that I mailed out on Monday so you can finish the car, and for you to sit back to enjoy some cold refreshments with friends. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: Camaro Restoration
Doug,
Wow the car looks great! Can't wait to see it in person. An X11 Copo in black with M22, not too bad! When we first talked about the car we knew it had to be a Copo from Maxton since the other known one owner Maxton Copo was one body number away. When I told you I bet you would find the complete history on the car I had no idea you would find 4 Maxtom Copo Camaro original owners and their histories! Great work and find me a black Copo would ya! Mark |

Re: Camaro Restoration
Doug ... the car looks incredible !
I would also like to note that while Doug has been focused on this restoration , business, family etc.... he has still found the time to share information with me and help me with the restoration of my car . From the looks of this stunning black COPO I think the information is probably pretty good https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif |
Re: Camaro Restoration
Beautiful job!
Congrats and good luck! |

Doug has done his homework with these cars and beat down all the bushes in the Columbus area. How many X11 BB were made??? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: Camaro Restoration
Doug traced all the owner history with statements from all parties right back to owner ONE, who informed him of the red pin stripes and WW tires. On guy even installed SS emblems on the car at age 18. The first Yenko I ever bought had Z/28 stripes and a Z/28 emblem on the tail panel with the Yenko and 427 holes filled in with putty. The owner HAD the Z/28 emblem for the front fender in the trunk to add to the car, but never got around to it. You need to remember that back in the day, a COPO or even a Yenko were not sought after cars. Guys identify with Z's and SS Camaros so many car received this "upgrade"...BKH https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Would that be the default/usual color pinstripe with black for this X11 application, or was it ordered that way? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |
Re: Camaro Restoration
There is another black X11 car from Maxton, with extensive history, also has the red stripes. Twin to Doug's car, and still in the Columbus area.

All 5 cars were either black or fathom green, automatic and 4 speed but ALL cars were X11 trim package. Thanks to all you guys for the kind words and help. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
